I unfortunately do not have the same problem with any of the other ISPs I connect with? How is this possible. I was able to connect over the weekend but the lag was so terrible that I had to resort to using one of my free accounts? My buddy would drive off, be about 500m away and then only do I see his movement! Switch to other ISP and no lag whatsoever? But not to worry, not long to go now, then I can also roam Los Santos without lag..

I totally understand your perspective. I haven't tested GTA 5 on PC myself, so I can only report what the team who are testing have fed back to me. I've played on PS and never had issues myself.

Good morning Afripeeps,

I am experiencing an odd problem, I went away on holiday for 3 days came back, my neighbor told me there were a lot of loadshedding in our neighborhood while I was gone. For some reason I think my line is acting weird because of it.

I thought maybe Afrihost working on their network for reason high latency and packet loss, but then I checked Web Africa and Crystal Web and they do the exact same no difference at all. I used to have 16-18ms locally and 0-0,1% packet loss, but now I got 35ms and over 10% packet loss, on all ISP accounts.

I also only download at maximum 150-170kb/s.

Here a speedtest(s): My download speed not his normal 1.74mb/s and upload not his normal 0.41mb/s.

As you can see almost exactly the same, so it much be my line that is weird, I really don't know.

quick question - do top ups rollover as well or do we have to use them before month end ?

I didn't test much streaming this weekend but YouTube was definitely working well for me when I tested on my smartphone and on my iPad.

Around what time were you testing?

About 3PM, BBC Iplayer and UStream, Both were playing up.
Finally I killed the Ustream session and got tolerable, but not great, performance from Iplayer for the rest of the afternoon.

We are testing GTA 5 on Capped and Uncapped and so far performance has been good. What we've read online is that some players around the world are experiencing some problems, we have not come across that yet (testing on a regular 10Mbps line).

Typical Afrihost response. "Its not our fault".. Please post links to the issue where people around the world are experiencing this issue. There are already 3 people ON THIS FORUM who have exactly the same issue, and the only way to fix it is to get cap at another ISP.

I know there is a new patch that is meant to address some issues.

Here a link related to the latest patch addressing some issues.

That's pretty odd. Demand was pretty stable at 3pm so I would think that contention would be at good levels.

Did you pick up anything weird on any other tests that you ran?

Any DSL or Mobile Topup runs until the end of the following month. So if I topup today, it will stay active (obviously until used up) until the end of May :)

We do see a lot of strange behaviour following load shedding which is concerning. We generally see performance go back to normal within a few hours at most, but it also depends on few factors related to how Telkom have planned their redundancy/recovery etc.

Could be that your sync degraded and your line/router can make up full sync anymore. If your sync is 1976kbps, then 1.7Mbps speed would be about right :(

Is there a way to fix any of this, to able to get my normal speed back, or am I stuck with this?

Afrihost is managing my line. I bought it with my capped account.

Then we can definitely log. Could I ask you to email me directly on [email protected]?

Please include speedtests and trceroutes from both accounts as well as you afrihost account details. Telkom's new process requires that any slow access faults must have traceroutes and speedtests from two ISP accounts :(

So an iOS app update running again at max 30KB/s on my 10Mbps line again today. I decided to test something by connecting through open VPN on my iPad and right away the download shoots up to my full line speed.

There's some serious issues here...

The fact that through a VPN the downloads are fine tells me that all download services are being shaped. Afriman can this not be restricted to P2P only so it's not affecting our day to day app updates etc till this issue is sorted?

I really couldn't say why a VPN would perform better. Either way there should be good performance in the North as demand is not that high.

Done!

Hope you received it!
