I am looking at changing from my current wireless 3G connection to an DSL solution and was considering Afrihost (the 50GB/50GB Capped DSL Package for R199pm incl. VAT). Reading their "Acceptable Use Policy" there is a clause
"Afrihost prohibits Clients from doing the following on hosting platforms administered by Afrihost:
Running Torrents for download or Seed Servers"

Does this explicitly mean I cannot use part of my Capped allocation to download my TV series I watch via my torrent service?

If not what would be another half reasonable ISP service that you can recommend similar to the above where I can use my P2P torrent.

Scrap Afrihost as a consideration, Look at Webafrica or Crystal web.

I have a vox, webafrica and crystal web accounts - crystal web is generally the most stable IMO.

I would interpret that as meaning running a torrent server on a hosted server - ie. not DSL but a VM or Dedicated Server.

Thanks, that was my thought, but no use trying to interpret and find I was wrong. Anyway seems like there are better options with no guessing involved. I just thought that someone who used Afrihost would be able to confirm if they are using torrents or if it is blocked.

People are still using Afrihost? Wow.

Thought it was common knowledge that AH sucks - for the last 12 - 18 months especially.

I expect #shillforlife Arthur to white knight this thread any minute now...

I was considering AH, but seems on advice here I should rather consider CrystalWeb or WebAfrica. The WebAfrica 300GB (60+240) for R199 as suggested by #Iamnotageek. Suits me very well.

CrystalWeb has the 450GB (90+360) for R295, so R100 more.

Just trying to work out if I should apply for a 2Mbps or 4Mbps Telkom connection (no fixed line at the moment). For what I need I am thinking I save the R100 go with WebAfrica and put the R100 saving into the faster Telkom line.

Afrihost is great if you get excited by constantly running trace routes and speed tests, and not so much doing anything else on the internet.

Morning!

This specifically applies to our Dedicated and Cloud Servers, and not our ADSL products. :)

Our Capped accounts are unshaped and should run at close to full speed at all times.
