Have been using my AH account. Things look stable.

Code:
traceroute to afrihost.com (104.20.31.244), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
 1 * * *
 2 dbn-up2.ip.adsl.co.za (169.1.5.174) 16.516 ms 14.84 ms 15.934 ms
 3 dbn-in1.ip.adsl.co.za (169.1.5.204) 15.865 ms 14.928 ms 14.129 ms
 4 169-1-21-32.ip.afrihost.co.za (169.1.21.32) 27.174 ms 27.231 ms 26.466 ms
 5 cloudflare.ixp.joburg (196.60.8.198) 26.725 ms 28.2 ms 37.333 ms
 6 104.20.31.244 (104.20.31.244) 26.697 ms 31.615 ms 27.964 ms

Code:
PING BBC.co.uk (212.58.246.78): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 212.58.246.78: icmp_seq=0 ttl=38 time=199.1 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.246.78: icmp_seq=1 ttl=39 time=196.8 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.246.78: icmp_seq=2 ttl=39 time=197.4 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.246.78: icmp_seq=3 ttl=38 time=198.0 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.246.78: icmp_seq=4 ttl=39 time=197.3 ms

--- BBC.co.uk ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 196.8/197.7/199.1 ms

At 2AM why wouldn't they be?

If you read back most issues are around peak periods 6-11PM.

Experiencing constant packetloss in CSGO.

Not been posting here because ultimately nothing gets resolved.

Is the shaping on the Afrihost shaped capped accounts really this bad that is unusable for playing online games at times?

For instance on my shaped capped account my lowest ping to the Quake Live server in CPT from Stellenbosch is 22ms compared to my WebAfrica account that has a ping of 49ms, BUT the Afrihost ping is all over the place and ICMP ping doesn't show how bad it actually is in game.

For instance when pinging the server, there is a lot of jitter:
Code:
Pinging 197.255.148.13 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 197.255.148.13: bytes=32 time=25ms TTL=58

Where as using WebAfrica capped account, I have no jitter:

... and now like 15 minutes later after I reconnected to Afrihost, my ping (both ICMP & in game) is perfect:
Code:
Pinging 197.255.148.13 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 197.255.148.13: bytes=32 time=23ms TTL=58

Reply from 197.255.148.13: bytes=32 time=24ms TTL=58

I don't think shaping would be a factor here. Have you noticed any improvements?

Are there any other games or service that you're experiencing issues with?

WTF is actually going on???? I cannot browse anything on my capped account. its just after 10pm and all im getting is dns errors unable to browse etc etc. Yet switching to my 1gb free account and no hassles.

Im completely sick of this absolute bs service

That does sound quite strange! :( A service such as browsing is highly prioritized on our network. Are you still experiencing any issues?

How does Afrihost charge R425 for 20Mbps while Telkom charges R499

Also, if my line is with Afrihost, do I still need to pay Telkom for landline?

Streaming was terrible during the day and evening yesterday.

Youtube, Netflix, DSTV Now, Supersport and Series 123 was buffering constantly.

First time that this has happened. Streaming was a breeze the past couple of weeks and my line solid.

I just hope this doesn't continue this weekend with all the sports etc.

No tests done

That sucks! :(
Is this on local or international servers?

To local servers, my ping should be around 35ms to CPT and 53ms to JHB at best.
I know this because when I open my console in-game it gives me those ping results.

The level of performance I'm getting from your network is deteriorating at remarkable speed.

You will still need a voice line with Telkom if your DSL line is with us. :)

The pricing is affected by a number of factors, we try to ensure that that our Clients get as much value as possible from their products. ;)

That's not good at all. What sort of speeds are you getting on your connection at the moment?

Do you know which DNS servers your modem is using at the moment?

These kind of replies are the staple of buying time. :(

When there is poor performance (especially in the evening) nothing gets done about it. We get asked mid-day the following day if there is an improvement (most of the time there is an improvment). I get that it takes time to troubleshoot an issue, once a client has consecutive issues shouldn't that raise alarms?

From a client POV, it looks like you guys aren't really doing anything as the poor performance is continuous. :(

I know you'll say "We and our team are trying our very best to provide you with excellent performance" but the truth is that you aren't plus nobody can give us a reason as to why.

This is not an attack on you.

Auto dns. Everything back to normal today. Was probably a isolated incident. Keep up the good work
