Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Can someone please check up on #UZW-600-89355, trying to cancel the line. Afrihost insists it's been cancelled, Telkom says it's still under your control and can't cancel from their side.

Have now been billed 3 months for a service that's not connected.

:(

I've just double-checked and the DSL line is definitely no longer with Afrihost, and the order isn't pending either.

Can you please send me an email confirmation of this. Is there anyway to resubmit the cancellation? Telkoms system is still saying you have it, trying to explain you don't isn't getting me anywhere.

Hey guys. Sorry about the late update. :( We did see a link fail in the South this morning which caused high latency and throughput issues. Our Team managed to failover to secondary links within an hour and then restored the primary link later in the day. So, things should be back to normal as we speak. :) Please feel free to drop me a PM if you're still experiencing issues and we'll look at it on a case by case basis. :)

Ive had our line checked by Telkom all syncs correctly as it should - router stats and diagnostics says the same on our side - But Afrihost network status for Western Cape says all is good?

Yep - also in the Cape and because I most of my work is done remotely, I am rather sensitive to connectivity issues.
I have noticed over the last few weeks that the connectivity has been all over the place. Definate periods of next to no connectivity (in some cases international sites just refuse to load) - pings go through the roof (local pings up to 4seconds) - and then give it a few minutes and .. poof, it's all better. This is during the day - so not like all the kids are hammering the local exchange with downloads either.

Currently (according to mybroadband speedtest), I have a 42ms ping, a 0.02Mbps download and 0.3mbps upload). A few minutes ago - it was around 3 seconds ping and 2 meg down.

Trying to use Skype (locally!) - we are getting a good 1 to 3 second delay on calls. Yet, give it a few minutes and it comes right, then just goes to toast later. It is intermittent which is the annoying part. When you have to go stand outside, to hop onto your neighbour's wifi in the middle of a conference call - you start to get a little grump. :( (I can't see it being Telkom cause as our lines run through the same DSLAM and exchange - just different ISPs).

p.s. just re-tested the speedtests - and it got a good 4.5mbps download and then 0.01mbps download (sigh)

LOL - so it's fine now ... for now.
Ping 48ms
Download 4.67Mbps
Upload 0.51Mbps

I eventually left my desk, its insanely slow.

I do a lot of work remotely as well. So in the same boat. But its totally screwed up still.

And Telkom has assured me that OpenServe and Telkom are not fiddling with nearby exchanges. blsup-2.jpg

We're definitely not seeing this kind of latency on our network at all. :( Latency spikes on the 3rd hop could indicate exchange congestion. Could you ping bras.afrihost.com to confirm?
