Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Last night
katency13-12-17-2.jpg

This morning 06.35am - pathetic. Infrastructure cant cope with demand if you ask me.

High demand from fibre lines now congesting DSL traffic as well at exchanges? (Bottlenecks?)

ntw-2.jpg

No point in upgrading accounts if this is the norm again.... and I am 100s of GB from being capped.

169.1.5.82 = Afrihost (Pty) Ltd LAT LONG -26.2023 28.0436 AFRIHOST-FIXED Johannesburg

So is 169.1.5.128 Afrihost (Pty) Ltd AFRIHOST-FIXED Johannesburg

196.10.140.198 belongs to Napafrica (NAPAfrica-CT1) in Stellenbosch

104.20.31.244 is a Cloudflare, Inc. server in Newark New Jersey USA = afrihost.com

Strange way to route traffic from Cape Town to USA, all the way via Johannesburg, instead of straight out up the West coast cable.

And suddenly...things normalize again.

But the underlying cause ....beyond my router remains unanswered.

Router => OpenServe Exchange => Afrihost => Internet.

Round-trip in ms from Cape Town East to bras.afrihost.com (155.239.255.250) in Parow = +1300ms average

Just 1 hop from exchange.

Streaming is terrible. And I'm using a 10mbit adsl line with a 100GB Capped Account.

Sorry to hear that. :( Did you notice any issues on other services such as downloads and browsing? Has anything improved for you today?

All is well. :)

Hi

Need assistance from one of the Afrihost reps.

My download speed goes below my upload speed every evening/weekend on a 20/2 fibre line.

Tried the support ticket way, got ignored.

Your Call Back line does not work, neither does the SMS line.

Tried the call centre, waited 40 min before answer (twice) both support people did not fix anything.

You are my last hope.

If you need tests etc, ask Em-mari. She has lots.

That sucks! :( It sounds like you had a really horrible experience. :(

Please wont you send me the ticket ID of the email you sent to the Team so I can check what the hold up is on this. The Call back feature and SMS feature is definitely working. I know that free SMS's do not work with our system and the request will not logged with us.

It is no secrete that we have been experiencing quite heavy call volumes at a the moment and this has caused the wait times you have been experiencing. The Team has been doing everything the can to address and we should be seeing a change in the hold times shortly.

I am more than willing to help you, I will need to take a closer at your account for you, please send me a PM with your account information so I can look into this for you.
