Afrihost capped users

Hi All

I currently have a 1mb connection, line managed by telkom and an Afrihost Capped data solution. I have checked on the adsl speed checker and it shows that my line has been upgraded from 1mb to 2mb.

I tried my luck and called Afrihost to ask what the process is to get my speed upgraded as I was on a capped product not a speed limited uncapped offering. I was told by the consultant that while Telkom might have completed the upgrade they have not informed Afrihost of this and will probably do so in bulk at the end.

Has anyone been lucky enough to have their line and capped data contract upgraded ? If so where you on 1mb?

The 1Mb customers are only getting upgraded by Telkom in January/February.
 
Capped accounts do not have any shaping with regards to speed.

So asking Afrihost wont get you very far. As froot has pointed out, 1mbps customers only get their upgrades in late Jan to early Feb.
 
Before their new pricing was launched, I was on their 4mb / 10mb 50GB capped account. My exchange could only support 3 - 4mb though even though my router said 10. Since the Telkom upgrade, I am now connecting above 8mb (sometimes 9). I didn't need to phone Afrihost at all.
 
i checked those data caps yesterday. its speeds upto 40mbs. so whenever you get upgraded you just carry on. afrihost doesnt have to do anything on there side.

We'll be mailing all of our clients around the changes really soon, with options to upgrade :)
What you can do in the mean time, is upgrade the line to a 2Mbps package - it'll be pro-rata billed though for the rest of the month.
