Afrihost "Do not refund policy" Scam or not?

AfriNatic please help. OpenServe is available for preorder in my area. When can you move me over? I need to move away from the Vodacom network. Its just to unstable

I have renamed the address of the Vodacom line.

You can now remove everything from your cart and place the order for Openserve.

Vodacom has again confirmed that the upgrade has already been completed.

Can you run a few speedtests and check what the speed is?

Also what router are you currently using? The MTU setting needs to be reduced from 1500 to 1400 to get the correct speeds.

The Vodacom line is unstable and drops often. Until they fix the line they would not be able to upgrade it
Please fix it

That is why I suggested you double check the MTU setting in the router. If you are using the AX3 from us the MTU is set at 1500 which is too high for Vodacom. It needs to be 1400.

My Router is a Synology RT2600AC and my ONT is the new Nokia that they installed on yesterday

I have changed the MTU from 1492 to 1400

What is the next step?

When I restart the modem and router it take 30 minutes to get a connection. Its very disruptive and we cannot get any work done
The line is still at 20Mbps

Can you send me a speedtest done via Ethernet let me log it for you?

Can we still get this fixed today? I do not want to be stuck with a bearly working connection this whole weekend I have a lot of work to do.

Still at 20Mbps

Thanks. Sent this on to Vodacom now. Once I have feedback i will let you know.

It seems that someone has once again dropped the ball on this. I have been waiting since August 2021

The line is upgraded now to 50/25

Thanks for the help

I'm not exactly sure about the 4 months timeline.

If @staxza can elaborate a bit on that I can provide more feedback.
The op said the speed issue has been going on since August, unless you are implying the op is not being upfront with the truth?

There is some details that has been omitted and it won't be appropriate for me to disclose any details publicly that is why @op can elaborate a bit. I have however engaged via pm.

@staxza what's the full story?

@staxza what's the full story?

Firstly the timeline is a Vodacom fibre thing. This is just how long they take to resolve one issue. When I first got the line in 2019 it took 3 months after the install to get the line to work and then another 3 months to refund the money they charged me. I was forced to pay for my ADSL and Vodacom fibre line otherwise they would cut of my Vodacom cellphone which they did and I had to pay the 3 month bill in one payment although the service was active but not used since I had no access to the line and no login was given therefor I could not use it. After 3 months I received a login and password from Vodacom.

This has been the most unstable network I have ever been on.

Regarding this issue, we are still not sure. I have asked the technician that was assigned to come and explain. He will come around when he has a gap.

He did say the there was a technical issue and that the line is unstable and therefor cannot be upgraded. The line was dropping a couple of times a day. Causing havoc with my cloud based systems. We have had this issue for the last 8 months and Vodacom has blamed it on loadshedding issues along the Vodacom network, but that was not the issue here most of the time.

If I was Afrihost I would not sell fibre on the Vodacom fibre network since it is impossible to work with them and it is making them look bad.

I will update when I hear from the technician.
