Afrihost hosting has been down all morning. When I called this morning, they said it will take 30 minutes to sort out.

Still down...

They are pathetic. One operator says whole of Afrihost hosting is down, another says o.nly one datacenter is down.

Been like that for 2 days now.

I guess if we were to do a survey on network admin skills, then one can deduce that if you cannot sort out the problem in 2 days then you have a bunch on incompetent chaps in your team. Can you imagine a client with no emails for 2 days.I have never exerienced that in modern times.

Anyway you get what you pay for.Cheap hosting = incompetent staff

Now they say that their split from MTN will improve things, but Afrihost still has ambitions that far exceed those of Elite/Domains. I don't know all that much when it comes to stuff like this, but I don't think their ambitions will allow them to go back to what they once were. I was a loyal client, and have since transferred all services away from them.

And I'm shocked to hear that they don't have their facts straight. I mean, if Afrihost was completely down, it would be all over tech news sites (and others, I'm sure). So it is just one data-centre or aserv server, which makes it ridiculous for them to make such crazy assumptions.

I take it you're on shared hosting. In that case, you won't like what they tell you about it - they more or less basically tell you that this is what you paid for. Whereas Elite, for example, uses CloudLinux, which prevents server overloads and other related issues far better than Afrihost does.

Afrihost has become a brand, much more than it has become a competent ISP - and that, honestly, makes me kinda upset. This commercialism going on ruins everything. Elitehost has the same logo they've had for who knows how long, and they stick to providing great service, a great set of products, and they're constantly improving things in the background like their new cloud infrastructure. I'm also a new Domains.co.za client, and have had zero problems with them since getting my VPS.

So, time to shop for a better host - you'll be far better off.
