Afrihost Fibre Feedback

This morning TT connect guy came and assessed our house and looks like it's good to go. Just waiting for an installation date.

Just a few questions.

I signed up a 100g package.

1) If I go uncap, after I reached my threshold of 120 gigs, how much will Afrihost throttle my speed.
2) if I finish my 100 gig data, what is the top up rate.
3) Does free data (12am- 8am) applies to Fibre package?

Considering no IPC charges, this should only apply to Openserve fibre IMHO.

1) You are able to upgrade from a Capped to Uncapped accont at any time. :) Throttling will only ever be applied to your Uncapped account if you opt for a Home Uncapped product.
2) DSL Top-ups are R5 per GB.
3) Capped Fibre products will receive After-Hours data but the roll-out of this does vary depending on the provider.

Who do I PM here to talk about fibre? I tried emailing afrihost support but my message was rejected by the server because "Code: 550 High probability of spam" :wtf:

Any help would be appreciated.

Strange that you're getting that email error. :( Have you tried signing up on our Coverage Map? Drop me a PM if you have any questions, though. :)

Yeah I found it bizzare too. Apparently I'm a bot, huh. Who knew tech had come this far.

Anyway sent a PM. Thanks in advance.

HI. Anyone online that can help get my Fiber connection sorted? got the ONT connected, got the WiFi router connected. cannot get a PPOE session connected.

24 minute wait on the support line, no Live Chat. How can I get hold of Afrihost?

I cancelled my order with Afrihost after waiting for 5 weeks and went direct with Telkom for the 10mb Uncapped month to month promo. Installed within 7 days.

@AfriGenie. Sent you a PM 2 days ago. Any update?

Please feel free to forward your PMs onto me and I'll also take a look. :) I'll ask Genie to update you guys tomorrow, but I'm sure he's just trying to get some worthwhile feedback first. :)

Hey AfriFella, I just want to know if you are aware that The Hills Eco Golf Estate already has fibre even though the openserve map hasn't been updated? Telkom was in the Estate handing out fliers, and the fibre boxes have been installed in the apartments already. The reason I ask, is because I ordered fibre from afrihost, and was told that my order has been changed to pre-order because the fibre isn't availible yet...

I got your PM! Thanks.

You don't know if there is an agreement in place that your estate will only have Fibre available through Telkom?

No, according to what I was told when I moved in, we have to organise our own ISP to get connected to the internet.

@AfriGenie

Is your pricing on https://www.afrihost.com/fibre/openserve#fibre-packages updated pricing, as in with your decision on what reduction to pass to the customer already reflected?

https://www.afrihost.com/site/newsroom/view/afrihost_reduces_openserve_fibre_pricing states " All existing Openserve Fibre clients will automatically enjoy these new prices from 01 August 2017."

I'm specifically looking at the 100/50Mbps 25GB capped for R747.00.

The pricing on that link should be updated. :)

All of our Openserve Clients will have the new pricing take affect from the 1st of August on their packages. You won't need to make any changes.
