Got this e-mail now;
So now, I had to upgrade my account to the 100GB package, and now I must upgrade again?
This ontop of the fact that this entire weekend and such my line keeps dying on Afrihost?
My Double Data? Maybe I must cancel it all and just get a R299 package to use Free time - I keep spending more and more with these idiots.
Hi Nicholas,
As you know we extended your Free-Time (which gives you 18 hours of free internet every day) to the month of December - We hope you are enjoying your free Festive GBs!
Please note though that Free-Time will come to an end on the 31st of December for any Capped data package of less than R299 per month.
The good news is that even though you will no longer get the full Free-Time of eighteen hours, you WILL STILL get 8 hours of free internet from Midnight to 8am every day on your Capped package.
And there is a way you CAN still enjoy Free-Time next month if you wish.
How can you keep Free-Time?
If you upgrade to a Capped data package of R299 or more per month you will keep getting 18 hours of daily Free-Time in January.
Simply log into your ClientZone, click on the Connectivity icon, choose your DSL package, click the ‘Edit Package’ button and choose a new package of R299 or more.
Why are we stopping Free-Time for data packages less than R299 per month?
We wanted to keep Free-Time going forever. For everyone.
However, as a direct result of Free-Time two things happened:
First, our overall usage and network costs increased dramatically but we did not get as many new clients as we had hoped to to help offset this extra cost.
Second, many clients (understandably!) downgraded their packages. And while I am truly delighted that everyone could save money and still enjoy more GBs, this meant we found ourselves in the challenging position of earning less revenue while having to pay more expenses.
And we were already operating on extremely tight margins beforehand!
So unfortunately it is simply not possible to keep offering 18 hours of Free-Time on all of our packages on top of the already low prices we charge per GB.
Now I know many people will say:
"Gian, you schmuck, of course this was going to happen! What were you thinking?"
Well, we were sincerely hoping for a different outcome!
We hoped there would be a big enough influx of new clients so that the new revenue would offset the extra cost. We are optimists by nature and even though we realised there was a good chance we wouldn't be able to keep Free-Time going forever for everyone, we were still hopeful!
We also knew that the worst case scenario, even if we we couldn't keep offering Free-Time to everyone, was that all of our Capped Clients would at least enjoy Free-Time for August, September, October and November! And many still enjoyed it for December!
What will happen in January?
From next month your 18 hours of Free-Time will stop (unless you have an ADSL data package of R299 or more, in which case it will continue)
If you have a Capped data package of LESS THAN R299 you will still get Free GBs for EIGHT hours between midnight and 8am every day.
Any Capped package of R299 and more will continue to automatically get the full 18 hours of free data each day.
So what’s the bottom line?
If you have a capped DSL package with us, and you want to keep enjoying Free-Time, then you need to go to https://clientzone.afrihost.com and upgrade to a month-to-month Capped DSL data package of at least R299 per month with us.
Alternately, if you choose not to upgrade, you will still automatically enjoy free data for the 8 hours from Midnight to 8AM each day on all our paid Capped packages.
As always thank you so much for trusting us with your business.
Have a spectacular Festive season!
Warm regards
Gian
