Sup MBBS's!

Trying all the channels possible!

I have been having problems with Afrihost now for the last 60 DAYS!!! since 13 June 2014

My ping is sky high... Over 400 and the are doing absolutely nothing to rectify it. I have been phoning daily, I have mailed countless times, I even mailed the CEO Gian.

Is there any one who will be able to assist please?

Thanks in advance!

Doesn't help if you don't state ping to where? 400 to japan is probably ok.

Also have to tested other ISPs?

Grab a Free Web Africa 1GB account to test for yourself.

Wherever Afrihost is mentioned, Chevron will jump in and recommend Web Africa.. eish getting sick of these posts.

I've been having huge delays in webpages loading for about 2 - 3 minutes round about 18:00 - 21:00 every night, but almost as soon as the problem begins, it disappears. When I'm having the problem ping seems normal though, when doing a tracert exchange congestion definitely isn't the problem

EDIT: I'm on Afrihost

Well if you wanna recommend another non MTN based ISP that's away a free GB go right ahead. I'd like to have another backup account myself.

Have you tested your line? No use bothering your ISP if it's a Telkom fault.

Yes i have. But Afrihost is my line provider as well.

Ok here is all of it... From 17h00 to 24h00 every day my ping (to local servers) fluctuates between 400ms and 1800ms like a roller coaster.

1. I have restarted my router
2. I have "tweaked" my line
3. I have tried other ISP accounts
4. I have tried Telkom guest account ISP
5. I have tried another router
6. I have formatted my PC
7. Did speed test on speedtest.net and saix.net
8. Did trace routes

It is definitely a line fault but Afrihost as managers of the line should convey the fault to Telkom and get it sorted out.

Sounds like exchange congestion, that takes ages to get resolved

You should still be able to log a fault with Telkom directly, since they manage the voice line. I would suggest telling Telkom that you have noise on your voice line (don't mention ADSL). Exchange congestion can be fixed within a few days if it is escalated to the right people. I've experienced congestion at 2 places that I've stayed at and it was always resolved within 2 weeks.
