I will be posting the 31 support emails over the next weeks so you can see how;

1. First they denied there was a free gift, only silver package they said.
2. Then they decided to get back their loss by screwing me on the redirect to the dot com.
3. Played dumb hoping I would go away.

Never the less I will be sending a copy of my emails to the advertising standards authority along with the advert, in which they for 20 emails denied there was an offer, and charged me full.

As far as I'm concerned the offer should have only been for silver hosting signups, when they discovered they were going to lose out they decided to price themselves out of the market for the dot com.

this is the package they are talking about as a free gift as far as i can tell. it shows no pointing from domain A to domain B for free from which you are fretting about.

As far as I'm concerned the offer should have only been for silver hosting signups, when they discovered they were going to lose out they decided to price themselves out of the market for the dot com.

I wanted them to set up a dot com and a dot coza, I would pay R300 for the dot com Domain, R14~ pm, plus R99 per month.

Instead of email on the dot coza, I just wanted a pointer to the dot com, WHICH ALL OTHER ISPS SAY THEY WOULD NOT CHARGE FOR.

Fine it they think its more hassle to direct a DNS query than route a domain's entire email then fine, they obviously haven't got a clue how the internet works. I will take my business elsewhere after I get the full refund.

I will also post the emails, so everyone of the board can see how they spent 15 emails denying there was a gift, I had to email them the screenshot.

But hey Necronus if you say they good service, then I am obviously imagining it all.

I give Afrihost one thing, they have the best shills singing their praise in the country, a bit of a shock how hellopeter was very balanced while the expert opinions on here are all in favour of Afrihost, so much for experts.

you did take note that herztner doesn't if its on different companies? and you have taken note that it clearly says Domain Email Package and not Domain packages?

hellopeter is a syndication. you obviously have a lot to learn still. as i've said so far they have been good. but if they screw up i will however first try to solve it in a decent manner without going ape****. then i'll report back on this forum as i've done with webafrica, openweb, ods, axxess, nexusISP and solmatrix.

asasa cases opened. one with openweb VS uncapped bull**** and solmatrix and their fake saix uncapped.

don't know where you get your perceptions from that it's just you against us the horde who are trying to just find out the details without just singing your chorus of doom and gloom.

See that www in front of the free domain it means World Wide Web. Like the thing you use with your web browser and not your email program.

Call the whaaaambulance...you assumed and got burnt for it when the fine text said something entirely different to your assumption.

www != website hosting,it's a common alias for HTTP hosting but no standard says that's the only way it can be done,infact it's a popular move to start dropping the prefix entirely

If you use a domain name primarily for web there is no use for using a subname www. The primary use of the www.-consept is as said to load distribute different services across different machines in a big organization when you can not run all services on one machine

Common home users and even intermediate people won't be running multiple servers themselves and as such won't need aliases added to their domain

obviously. how else to you get you@<domain>.something? you have to have a domain name registered first. however the free gift clearly states Domain Email Package and not a domain pointing, domain forwarding, domain parking or a hosting plan as this is what you are getting for free.

this is exactly the setup i currently have with www.yoursdomain.com. a registration of a domain name which is linked to an email only package. emails has to be linked to a named domain before you can use them even if it is name@<isp's domain>.something they don't just exist mystically.

You can call me for whatever you like, fact is they billed the CC for R300 for something that was free, After 31 emails they still had not refunded me.

You may have been to ICASA or whatever they call themselves, but a court of law values the spirit of the law, more than a geeks oh so boring ramblings on semantics.

If your a customer and thinking of doing business with Afrihost, do you really need to spend the entire weekend arguing over semantics ?

No you would hope that the spirit in which the company does business, is open and honest, Afrihost are not.

it was asasa and ispa btw not icasa. still waiting for

a) your asasa case number.
b) did you ask them for .co.za and .com domain.

i bet you have asked them for a .co.za and a .com registration and assumed that you will get .co.za for free just because it was "listed" as free, but in actual fact it's a domain email package...

After seeing this I decided to register both a dot com and the dot coza, I figured the dot coza would be free.

They charged me R300 to regsiter the coza and now claim no matter what I must pay the R35 per month for the coza to direct to the dot com.

You're welcome to waste your lawyer's time (and your money) on frivolous activities though, just don't come back crying.
