Anyone having high local and international latency? I'm not 100% clued up on tracerts, but that jump from 3-4 is super high. Not sure exactly what that means?

Here is a tracert on Afrihost:

Clearly there is an issue for Afrhost from hop 3 to 4. My speeds are also reduced.

Mine's fine?

So yours does a hop from 105.236.*.* to 41.181.178.65 fine, but mine to 41.181.222.42 is high. Weird man.

I'm in Durban also by the way.
Uhm. Looks your exchange is not congested, but the backhaul to MTN's IPC links are congested, or they have shaping there of some kind or some congested link somewhere in backhaul. MTN will have to fix, or take it up with Telkom if it is the Telkom backhaul that is congested.

Ah. Yeah then it's likely that there's a kink in the system around the Durban IPC.

Thanks. I've queried with Afrihost to see what they can do. Hopefully it can be resolved soon otherwise I'll look elsewhere again.

UPDATE: They couldn't find anything wrong on my line, so reset my account. It seems a lot better. Will keep monitoring it though.

I have a 100Gig CAPPED account...it usually flies, but since a couple of days ago...its REALLY crawling...any ideas?

Afrihost seems to have regular bad ping... cannot really use them for gaming - they have ping issues every few days.

I just did another comparison test to local servers:

Afrihost: 157ms
Mweb : 8ms

Woah, fair enough, but this was 2 years ago virtually.

Not quite relevant to todays Afrihost issues...which are abundant.

Something is definitely off there.

Would you mind posting another traceroute after your account was reset? There could be routing that is off, and that is something we need to look into ASAP.

Hi!

To which servers are you currently seeing those difference in latency?
