Afrihost Internet experiencing DNS problems

I am using Norton ConnectSafe to shield me from pornography and internet uglies. I am therefore not affected.

I haven't noticed any issues with my capped account probably because I am using unotelly.

lcbxx thanks for the reference to Norton ConnectSafe - I just set it up and find it to work well! And I'm back online as well :) Afrihost user too

It would have been useful if Afrihost sent an email of the issue to their subscribers. Most people have more than one method of accessing the internet. An SMS could also have been used.

Can you use it to just filter out internet uglies, but keep the pornography? I'd like to keep internet uglies out of my porn. :D

Problem seems to MTN related as my phone is also dead but google works when connecting to the IP

This is happenning way too often on the MTN network. First all Axxess' authentication issues every few weeks, now Afrihost too

Updated the article with:

At 17:50 on Wednesday, Afrihost announced on Twitter that its engineers reported that the DNS issue was resolved, and that normal DSL and mobile data service had been restored.

Afrihost requested that subscribers please revert any DNS changes made.

Yeah... um... Afrihost owns Axxess....

I dont trust SA DNS providers. Telkoms always go down. So Ive used Google DNS for years now. Not a days problem :)

I am aware of that mate, but when Axxess had their authentication issues over the last few months, Afrihost didn't. These DNS and authentication issues are way too common on the MTN network. Time they sort this out once and for all. You try explaining to complete Noobs how to update their dns address, then multiply that by the number of employees you have to do that for.

"Oh noes, my internet is down, the sky is falling, my work can't get done or more likely I can't play candy crush". Create headaches for people in IT.
