I recently purchased an Afrihost account. I still have my account with Telkom account. At the moment the only reason I am keeping my Telkom account for Local bandwidth for online gaming :)

I am thinking of canceling my Telkom account and purchasing Local bandwidth from Axxess / Web Africa. Although, I am a bit concerned about the "Limited" account from Afrihost. Will the price remain this way for a while? or will it increase soon? or is it limited in a sense to a limited number of users? If I cancel my Telkom account and if price where to increase with Afrihost, I will end up paying +- same....It would make canceling Telkom pointless.

Once you "buy" the afrihost account at R29/GB it will always be <= R29/GB. If you miss it then you will likely have to pay a higher price as this is a limited offer.

The price will remain the same for ever, on whatever size package you have subscribed to at R29/GB.

Do not cancel your telkom account. You need the land line and ADSL service at R131 and R152 respectively.

The Do1, 2 or 3 can be kept, for the gigs that are part of the package.

Afrihost gigs are great for top up, after your telkom gigs run out.

Thanks for all the Information guys :)

I don't want to cancel Telkom fully. I only want to cancel them as an ISP. Can that be done? I still pay them R131 and get an Afrihost / Axxess / Web Africa account.

Or am I making a mistake? Is there anything else I should be considering before giving Telkom the boot?

That shouldn't be a problem.

Telkom Internet (ISP) is a seperate (although related) company from Telkom, the Telco provider.

You buy the usage from Telkom Internet and pay line rental to Telkom, just like with any other ISP, unless you have an all-in-one account with them in which turn they pay Telkom the line rental on your behalf.

Switching to a different ISP for your usage should be no different as when switching between other ISPs.
