Hey guys. :)

Something weird to share.
When I type in my Afrihost login, I get *username and/or password incorrect* error.

Now you're going, doh you typed it in wrong. No I didn't. :D
I've gotten someone to check for me as well. It is typed 100% exactly like in the e-mail.

Here's the weird part. When I copy/paste directly from the e-mail. It works!

It's not a problem, just curious why it does this. :wtf:

I've seen this problem happen quite a bit.. not for me though. You say it works when you copy/paste from the email, but not when you type in yourself, it simply doesn't work. It's a classic case of PEBKAC.

Good luck sorting it out!

This question made me laugh! In all seriousness sometimes problems can sometimes happen when you copy and paste a password because of a space on the end of the password but the OP's way around is for sure an example of PEBKAC :)

So even the fact that I got somebody else to type it in and check. Didn't work.
The fact that I even typed it out exactly the same in notepad, checked then copy paste over.

I selected show password as well. So I can see if there are spaces, there isn't. Trust me. It's typed 100% correctly. Doesn't work.
Why does my WA accounts work just dandy if I manually enter the details? Why only my Afrihost accounts giving problems?

Afrihost response is "case sensitive password".

To be honest. I don't care. It's not an issue. Not like I type it in over and over, but I wanted some sort of an explanation. PEBKAC is certainly not it.

Trust me, the problem is definitely PEBKAC. It can strike multiple times, to multiple users, even geeks (though much less often, and mostly on stressful days). I've been victim to it quite recently..

It could be that your password actually REQUIRES a space at the beginning or end, and when you copy/paste you are copying the space as well. It could also be that you have mistaken the letter O (oh) for the number 0 (zero). Or a small letter l (el) for a 1 (one) or a capital I (eye).

If it works when you copy/paste, but not when you type it in yourself, then PEBKAC. Check again carfeully. Copy/paste the password into Microsoft Word, and change the font perhaps, so that you can differentiate between the above characters better.

Well, after you type it in incorrectly does it go away from the popup screen to the normal login page? The popup screen refuses to accept my password while the normal login page does..maybe you're hitting the same problemo

Actually, I think it is more than PEBKAC.

The Afrihost login used to work with a chosen username and password that was either given to you in an ADSL set up e-mail (or then later changed by yourself).

But sometime in the last few months Afrihost added another login on top of the old one that uses your ADSL username and login... same as your router login (for some weird reason).

Do the solution is...

1) Login to the new login page with your ADSL username and password, which will then take you to..
2) The old login page - use your previously set up login details.

Then you should get in. Don't ask me why it has to be so convoluted or why there has been no communication regarding it.

Ah so I wasn't imagining it not accepting my Clientzone login :)

I've always had 2 login's for Afrihost, each with it's own username and password. The one is to log in to the clientzone, and the other is the PPPOE account details, that needs to be entered into the router under the ADSL settings page.

The ClientZone Login has the following format: <myname>@<myMailProvider>.com. The ADSL PPPOE login details has the following format <myname>@afrihost.co.za.

Been this way since I signed up for Afrihost late last year, and for every other person/client I've sign up, it's worked the exact same.

So not sure what you guys are on about.

Please do try to read previous posts before interjecting nonsensical information, nobody questioned having multiple PPPoE accounts and a clientzone account -.-
