Please help.
How can I use the mobile data Afrihost allocates to me each month?
I have a Vodacom contract cell phone with its own sim card.
For travel away from home, I have a Vodacom lite dongle with its own contract and sim card.
Just how can I connect through Afrihost? I’m stumped!
Please explain. I hope this is not a dumb question.

Well if you don't need the data (which is what your question implies) then why not cancel Afrihost and save the money?

On the other hand why do you feel you have to use the data?

Firstly Afrihost allocates me 1 Gig data free as part of my uncapped ADSL package.
Secondly I want to use this when I travel instead of paying Vodacom for a data service.

I could be wrong but VC and MTN use different mhz on their towers for their 3g signal, and would assume that the VC dongle is catered for their frequency, therefore, the only solution would be to get one of AH mifi devices (with a new sim), then connect through wireless to whatever you're using.

Hope this helps :)

EDIT: After re-reading your post, it's not clear if you're referring to wifi hotspot's or 3G?

Ah, this make's more sense.

You can only use the wifi data (same data as normal cap) at "Always On" hotspot's like airports, wimpy, mugg and bean etc.

Lol, you can't use your afrihost adsl data cap on 3G because it's ADSL DATA!

You need to either have an Afrihost sim card or an MTN contract sim card on which you would use the Afrihost APN. Remember Afrihost run on MTN's network and so it will only work on MTN's network and not Vodacom's.

Edit: You can get one of these devices: http://www.afrihost.com/site/product/mobile_devices and then ask them for an Afrihost sim card.

It's been said. Swap out your Vodacom SIM in your dongle for an MTN sim, and you will be able to use your Afrihost data

I saw you mention that you get 1GB free as part of your Uncapped DSL package - that's the first I've ever heard of that. Are you sure you're not confusing Mobile or WiFi data with Mobile Data?

Can you drop me a PM so I can help clarify for you?

If you are talking Mobile, then you should have a SIM, which will most likely be compatible with your Vodacom device (you can get a SIM adapator in most cases if it's be broken to Micro or Nano size). However, there are still lots of network locked devices out there, so make sure you can switch APN to Afrihost on the device and that it accepts an Afrihost/MTN SIM.
