Ok, so got capped yesterday afternoon with 750MB left on the sim !

Of course today the 750MB is gone, but it was still showing last night.

Are you guys going to fix this ?

If you were definitely unable to connect, we should be able to roll over that unused data into the current month.

PM me if you still needs this, I saw you later message about changing, hopefully we can avoid that :(

Support told me to FO.

So shifting all my mobile accounts to Axxess, prefer the rollover policy, I use mobile data intermittently.

I'm not sure how that was communicated, but I really do hope our team was not rude or dismissive. If that was the case, I do sincerely apologise :(

Can anyone using 4G on Afrihost Mobile please do a ping test and let me know if it is consistent? I'm getting strange results. Not sure if the problem is on MTN's network.

See thread below.

I get fairly consistent ping on my LTE here in Rivonia. Usually between 40-60ms. But ping is very hard to pin down on Mobile becuase there are a lot more variable than DSL. I do usually find the LTE ping is more consistent than 3G though.

Ok thanks. Will log a ticket to support then. I'm getting that result (See linked thread) both in Fourways and Melrose Arch and it is hardly usable :(

Not rude but definitely dismissive.

The argument was that because this was "free" data (ie part of a Zest bundle) they refuse to do anything.

Of course I see it differently, I paid good money for the Zest bundle, certainly was not free, especially as the phone is pretty basic and not worth much.

AH definitely needs to sort this system bug out.

Hmm...

//Takes a keen look at Axxes Mobile...

I'm paying AH R499 for 10GB, and Axxes is R579. R79 more for a better service? Hell yes!

//Thinks of jumping ship and this may be my last month on AH!

Shouldnt you be getting 20GB for R499 ?

I actually don't live too far from there (Melrose), dunno if we're on the same tower. I have found on occasion that switching of LTE on my iPad gives me around 15mbps on 3G, which is sometimes better.

I see my area is now showing LTE coverage.
If I am suffering from over-congestion of the MTN tower (at certain times) with 3G then will LTE help?
Or is the congestion at a different level like lines leaving the tower that are congested?

It may help, depends on how the area is setup though.
Drop me a PM, I can request LTE access for you. Can't hurt :)

Thanks AfriGuy,
I don't have my LTE modem with me at the moment. I will send a PM next week once I got it back.

I bought the LTE device and im having some weird experiences with it.

When I leave the network connection settings to auto, the device will constantly have an issue with not finding a service. Its only at certain places that it will eventually settle on 3g. If however I manually set the connection to 3g Only then it stays connected most of the time. I work in 3 separate locations (fourways, Simmonds street and Samrand), now at Simmonds in town the connection is fine but as the day progresses it eventually gets to a point that I cant use it at all and have to use my cell c data sim. But my pings are working fine, no there just seems to be no throughput... At fourways the same happens, but it cant seem to stay connected (I physically see it battling on the 3g display). The only place I have decent connectivity is in Samrand, but that could just be due to very little congestion.

Another test I did was keep the device on me and see how it would handle driving through different areas. This went terribly, it was battling to find service most of the time. During this whole test I never connected to LTE once, but I don't know if this has been enabled or not...

MTN offers 20GB for R359 night time data.

Time to downgrade my package from 20GB to 5GB!

//Moving forward.
