As a pre-paid MTN customer I cannot just add these APN settings to my sim card I assume?

Any MTN subscribers tested the APN settings change? how did it go?

If not does anyone know the cheapest contract on MTN so that I can just use my Afrihost data on my current sim? I am paying something stupid like R180 for 500mb of data monthly.

Unfortunately not, for the moment the APN functionality is only available to MTN contract subscribers.

afriguy would the apn work on a existing mtn contact with current sim or would u need to get a new another sim ?

Do I have to take out another R150 deal to get 3Gb on my phone or can I bind my MTN phone to the SIM that I got with my mifi device?

If I need to take out another R150 deal, do I get a 2nd SIM? Would it and my phone then effectively use up the alloted data whenever any of them are aconnect? Also how do I add my MTN contract number to be able to use your APN.

Unfortunately really really ****ty connection speeds at home in Plumstead, CPT, modem has full bars but 2G - even though the coverage map says 3G HSPA+ 2100 is available here... perhaps its the current ****ty weather.

I'm getting less than 1kbps here in melkbos :(
Strange tho, cos some of my family on mtn got decent speeds here a couple of months ago.

Ill check Tableview tomorrow

100% Coverage in Lichtenburg suppose to be 14.4 Mbps towers but only getting these:

Cell C 100% Coverage too and Vodacom and I get above 6 Mbps on both of them :(

Afrihost's MTN coverage map is better than the "same old, same old" one MTN still got on their site. My main gripe with that is that it shows coverage, but not tower location.

If you have the coverage and the tower location, then you can have a rough idea of whether you have good or bad coverage...

However, for best results, look at the one provided by gr8signal.co.za - this will give you a much better idea of coverage.

Not sure whether gr8signal.co.za still is collecting telemetry though.

I remember reading somewhere(a post by Afriguy) that you can request multiple sim cards that can use one data package, ie mifi, tablet

how true is that?

@ Boulevard office park in Woodstock CPT and no signal in my offices, will try it out later at the vida or something

I distinctly remember him saying that you cannot share the data between sims.

Would be lovely to get two SIM's, one for my mifi (which travels with me) and the other for the wife's ipad, so that if we have a problem with ADSL at home, she can just switch over to 3G...
