Aha! Now we're getting somewhere... But are you charged the full package fee or discounted for the airtime you have remaining?

Irrespective of how much airtime is left over, you will be charged the full package fee at the start of each month. This does sound a bit strange, but with the ClientZone and Afrihost App allowing you to upgrade and downgrade as needed you can find the exact sweet spot for airtime that you need.

What is evergreen and what is expiring airtime?

In plain English please, exactly what airtime is classified as each of those 2?

Webzone makes a clear distinction between the 2.

So every month you get charged the full package fee and every month you start off with the same amount of airtime regardless of how much airtime is left over from the previous month.

Therefore the month-to-month airtime DOES EXPIRE, end of story. Please stop saying it doesn't, whatever you have left disappears at the end of the month. I have no problems with this(others will) but STOP saying the airtime doesn't expire when it clearly does. Not sure if you've used it in any marketing but it'll get you in trouble.

We've changed the wording to not use evergreen, you can find a revised explanation HERE.

That page explains Airtime in the following way: "When There's Airtime Left Over
If you don't use up all your Airtime, or you do, then top up your account and don't deplete the topup by the time the new monthly cycle starts, you will be allocated the difference to bring your balance in line with your monthly total."

Maybe I am stupid, but I dont understand this. It is now even more confusing. :wtf:

At the start of each month they take what ever airtime you have left, whether is is the base airtime or additional amounts you have bought, then sell it back to you so you have the full base amount in your account again!

On a month-month contract regardless of how much airtime you have left you are charged the full package amount and your airtime is reset to the amount indicated in your package eg:

Afrihost XS you get R39.50 airtime a month, at the beginning of each month you will get reset to R39.50 regardless of how much you had left(including top-ups done during the month) and charged R99.

So if you topped up with R100.00 and had R50.00 left, you will be reset to a balance of R39.50 and NOT R89.50?

Hard to believe but yes

I would be happy for that to apply to the base amount but for Top ups no, especially as you can only top up with 1 prescribed amount of airtime

"If your carry-over airtime exceeds your monthly airtime allocation, you will not receive additional airtime, as you are already over your regular allocation."

So if you had R50 left you would stay at R50 and forfeit the R39.50 monthly amount

But still get billed R99.00 even though you did not get R39.50? I am sorry....I know I am asking stupid questions, but I am having trouble getting my head around this.

That is absolutely correct.

Yes, the R99 includes the airtime and the Mobile Data. Our system will make sure that you have at least R39,50 of airtime at the start of each new month.

Your copyright dept needs to be fired, the word SEVERELY COUNTER-INTUITUVE comes to mind when reading that explanation and page you linked to.

It sounds to me like your system ensures that you have AT MOST R39,50 of airtime at the start of each new month...

The moral of the story here is this:

The best value for money can be found by using MTN Prepaid for voice. Using either your banking app or BitX, it is extremely easy and fast to buy normal (non-expiring) airtime of any amount (as opposed to an airtime top-up that expires, and can only be purchased in the size specified by your Afrihost package).

For data, the best value for money can be found by using Afrihost's APN, where 1GB month-to-month (expiring) data costs R59.

Sadly, this means voice and data can't be managed through one central portal (Afrihost App).

How strange.

Ok...suppose then one should look @ the R99.00 per month being for the 1GIG data and think of the R39.00 airtime as a bonus?

If you have an airtime value over R39,50 - for example R45 - we won't remove the R45 to allocate R39,50 to your account.
