This was tested to www.mybroadband.co.za using them same modem and same pc for both test. Same tower only difference is the APN

Afrihost uses the MTN business route where normal mtn just use normal mtn hops : CELL ID is the same for both my test ( same tower )

Could be how the tower's setup on that specific connection :)
Do you have a traceroute you can paste here?

Sorry, didn't see the username there.
The 10.* are local IPs.

Anyway, have you run tests outside of your area to replicate throughput/ packet loss issues?

Don't have a laptop so not that easy to run tests anywhere else. Going to have to visit my cousin and use her mac, no idea how to run tracert or ping on a mac.

Why are there more local ips with the MTN apn?

Both run via MTN backhaul, via JINX and then to CloudFlare.

100% agree with this. But you have different hops to different ip's and stuff can go wrong network side so you might be 100% on the one apn and stuff gets packet loss on the other apn because of this

Something to add was playing the hole weekend on my cellc. Now that I am back on my afrimobile to use my data I still see now in a dota 2 local game 200 ping is back

Still waiting on response on that ticket I made about this

A tower isn't necessarily always on IP though, which is where things may differ.

I believe you've had ongoing issues in your area though?

I logged a ticket and this is the reply what I get

Good day Stefan
Valentino here

Hope you well :-)

I had a look at your account and notice that your connectivity and notice that your data transfer has been in fact poor. I have re-provisioned your sim card and refreshed the data. Please test your connection in 30 minutes.

I would like to request that you test your sim in another device and in another area should you still experience this problem. Should the drop in signal only exist in your area using a different device, please notify us and we shall provide you with a coverage form to fill out where MTN will have to come out and have a look at the area. if you still have issue with connectivity in another area we will need to do a sim replacement.

Thank you and hope you have a super day.

Kind Regards

Valentino - Afrihost.com

:(

Do you have the ref# available?

Ticket: ZVP-686-62627

I gave tracerts and pingplotter screenshots and explain the problem

Thanks.
Please re-confirm this with our team - I've asked someone to attend once we receive your reply.

Waiting till today for answer :)

I'm sorry but the Afrihost APN was barely working so I decided for ****s and giggles to run more tests, bought 100MB MTN bundle changed APN and bam working perfectly so unless it's the Afrihost sim card its the APN and I don't care what anyone says.

Going to change back to Afrihost now and do some tests and then update my google doc with the results.

Afrihost mobile 200 ping to local dota 2 server

So for a while now I have 200+ ping to local dota 2 server.

Now as you can see from the screen shot the ping spike start from where it switches from MTN to IS GAMING server.
Capture.JPG

Now all the other local peering servers are fine.

CELLC to ISgaming is fine but if I use my Afrihost I get 200 ping.

Afrihost told me to talk to ISGaming , Isgaming tells me to tell afrihost/mtn to log a fault so they can both look into the peering issue.

I reported the fault in the afrihost mobile thread on the 26-02-2016 11:07 PM post #5193

Till date I have the same problem . any ISgaming server with afrihost mobile =200+ ping even the teamspeak server that is local

I am on the verge on giving up.

Does anybody have any ideas what I can do

Could be a SIM specific issue, I believe we ran over testing a different SIM/ device in earlier PMs?
