Afrihost Mobile Feedback Thread

There's definitely something not right, ran a ping n - 20 l - 500 afrihost.com and I had 55% packet loss

My connection is still not working properly massive packet loss and latency spikes.

Performance is seriously bad today, even by MTN standards.

Could the Afrihost rep please look into this and get us a proper answer (i.e. some acknowledgement of the probelm and what's being done about it)?

That new CellC deal is starting to look like a better proposition.

I agree this radio silence is starting to p me off. Every time I log a complaint all I get is the robotic the mobile issue had been fixed and we will refresh your connection and reboot your router, done that about 4 times this week already.

Link to these Cell C deals?
I'm keen!

Then you can roam on the famous Vodacom 3G network at CellC rates, bonus.

I have moved my main internet connection to the R1000/100GB CellC deal. Speed is about the same as the Afrihost connection and a damn site more stable! Getting 100GB for about 50% more than I paid for R20GB of Afrihost data and no issues or expiring data.

Really considering going Prepaid @66c/min and loading a R1000/100GB data bundle to last me the year on my Cell. It will work out MUCH cheaper than the Afrihost Mobile deal and you don't have all the underhanded changes and products sales points that don't work (expiring data and Auto Top ups) that we have been through with Afrihost

No vodacom 3g coverage either :(

Just ran a lot of tests using MTN internet APN and then Afrihost APN, speeds and latency were similar but much more packet loss on Afrihost.

Did an extended ping test and got 48% packet loss on Afrihost and 8% on MTN.

Performance still lousy, and Afrihost continues to maintain radio silence.

Disappointing, considering their normal levels of support.

They have responded, they are just using their mobile data to send the response...

I did all this testing earlier this afternoon and there's no one to send it too. No live chat, three tickets with support no response. I know it's weekend but come on it's when I need it to work the most.

Morning guys! I understand that there has been some frustration around your Mobile Connections, but, this is still an Afrihost thread and if could keep discussions primarily around Afrihost products, that would be great. :)

Fix your APN and then people won't talk about the competition. 6 DAYS now.

Have any of you looked at my Test results I pm afriguy and afrifella the links to them?

This is a thread for people you need mobile data and use/have used/might use Afrihost.

When Afrihost don't meet our needs/ be straight with us/deal with our tech issues/offer what they say they will, then we start to look around. The facts of the matter are that the market has changed (as it always does) and there are now cheaper offerings. My opinion, based on my experience is that Afrihost no longer offers the attractive package that we were sold and the most certainly haven't offered me the kind of user experience that I expected.

Just like I have told people and clients about your offering and sold many of them on it, when it no longer meets my needs, or their needs then I will tell them about what the new best thing is. This includes fellow forumites.

I'm sure the_unbeliever the OP of this thread won't mind if we chat about our experiences and potential solutions to the issues Afrihost is causing in our lives.

If you would like a channel for marketing Afrihost products exclusively rather than one for the benefits of you clients then I'm sure you can create one and see how many people join.

Getting 80% packet loss now. Just tell me you are working on it or just acknowledge the problem. I'm sick of hearing that it's been fixed and we have refreshed your number or tho fill out a coverage form to send to MTN. I have sent you more than enough test results proving that it's not a coverage issue.

Spot on, also I don't like having to say this, they seem like helpful guys but Afrihost reps on the forum largely are just doing lip service in regard to support on their mobile products. I was offline for 4 days, they did zip despite me pming both reps. Seems to be the case for many others, you just have to sweat it out till the problem mysteriously goes away.

From the way I see it Afrihost is out of their competency with their mobile offering, they can't actively support the product other than relaying the complaints to their Mtn partners.

Prime example of this is no one at Afrihost actually knows or can explain what has been affecting the mobile network.
