I get international ping 250ms, local 120ms. International download 4 to 5 Mbps, upload 0.8 to 1 Mbps. Local download 5 to 7 Mbps, upload 0.8 to 1 Mbps. Youtube streaming is dead for more than 2 weeks already, my 1 Mbps ADSL line is far better. Glenvista Jhb
 
So I got the MiFi device on the promo with the 5gb, and I cannot be happier. I was a bit bummed that I cannot use it on my MTN sim with the APN and though about canceling and getting only the APN, but instead I took out anther package for the APN. I signed up about 9:15pm and its been activated and working by 9:40pm. Super awesome. So far I am sold on the mobile packages, keep it up Afrihost. Already I have gotten a lot of friends and family to sign up.

How about a referral deal and the referrer gets some free data? ;)
 
That's no good. Please drop me a PM with your MiFi or SIM serial number. Let's make sure everything is working as it should :)

Don't stress about it. I am actually keeping track of all my data that goes in/out that way i don't get cheated like another service provider did to me. Noticed now in the clientzone it shows 72megs available will see if I am able to actually connect but have the 10gig to consume first :)
 
I feel that my data is disappearing faster then it should. I've hardly used it., ran about 15 speed tests and browsed a bit and I've already wasted like 500mb. The 1st night I got it I ran like 3 speed tests and browsed very very little and that was 100mb gone...

I will take note of how much data I have tonight. Run 5 speed tests and see how much data I have left. Seems very odd.

How much data should a speed test take? Probably not more then 5mb imo but I will see

I vaguely remember hearing that the faster your connection ... the more data the test will use. I was always under the impression the test is defined with a set amount of data and will measure how long it takes to send this data to you to compute the download speed. This apparenlty is not the case.....so a speedtest that runs at 43mbps will sue a crap load of more data than a 7.2mbps connection ... or so I head anyway.

Using the APN on my MTN Contract. Was working fine last night and this morning. Now, I can't connect. Phone just says "Disconnected because service is unavailable". Tried restarting phone, same thing. Full signal.

Edit: switched back to MTN 'internet' APN. Same thing. I'll post back if I isolate an Afrihost-specific problem.

Still hasn't been fixed. As soon as I got the "Welcome to Afrihost your APN is active etc" the APN stopped working, as well as the default MTN "internet" APN. Went into the branch just now, they say my data line has been barred. They're going to clear it, but it still hasn't been cleared. Can't use any APN now :/

If you have any MTN connections, I'd appreciate any further feedback regarding this. Otherwise, it's with customer "turn it off and on again" care.

super ninja edit: seems to be working. Will update if it's a fluke.

You said somewhere that they promised it would work around 5pm. Was that the case?

I saw somewhere that I used 17MB per speed test.
I can't recall where I saw the stats.

I advice folks not to run any speedtest whatsoever as that bandwidth actually counts when running a speedtest. Meaning download/upload contributes. Example running 10 x speedtest @ 17 meg = 170 meg of data download already
 
Find it quite annoying happens frequently on my personal phone as of lately.

Couldn't agree more and I protect my number with passion, yet still they slip through. We should be able to submit a number like "Mr Jonathan" and the number is blocked or some such thing
 
Hey! Just noticed that top-ups are two for one now! You should really advertise that on your site, as it shows 1GB for R99 when it is in fact 2gb for R99
