We had an authentication problem on Mobile around about this time - should have been resolved within about an hour as I understand.

Are you still battling with speeds?

Yip still having problems. The mifi device shows orange bars 90% of the time but when I login to the mifi device dashboard it shows 2-3 green bars 3G.

Try going to settings, then on the left going to (something like) mobile profile or whatever. Then set the connection to manual - disconnect and try forcing the connection to 3G??

Z

P.S. I can check the actual steps a bit later :D

If I go into status...it says disconnected by connection status.

Okay cool - theres the issue :/

Please would you go to settings, then on the left to mobile connection or something, and set it to manual. Then go to the status page and select the connect icon :)

Been with AH on my MTN topup contract for almost a week now, works like a charm - had no issues in setting it up, LTE works great - getting good speeds.

All good :)

Mine is set to 3G

What will the default setting be? I want my account hard capped at zero out of bundle data, will I have to change anything?

The default will be whatever you have now - hard cap or auto topup. You'll have to opt in Out of Bundle and you'll be able to set a hard limit either so you don't spend more than you want to at any time.

Good to know. Thanks

Dear MyBroadBand and especially AfriPeople,

I received my Afrihost MTN LTE sim yesterday but I'm not getting any data whatsoever.

I've tried the SIM in the following devices:
* HTC Desire Z with CyanogenMod 7.2
* Motorola Atrix 4G with CyanogenMod 7.2
* Nokia E71 with stock Symbian S60

In all cases, the telephones connect to the MTN network. I've even received an SMS that the SIM was successfully RICA'd.

However, there's no data connection. The Nokia E71 reports: "No packet data connection" -- when I connect explicitly through the Afrihost APN. The Androids error out on any data retrieval. No E, 3G or H icons in sight.

I've checked and double-checked the "afrihost" APN on all the phones. I've also tried with and without capital "A".

Support has requested SIM to be reprovisioned (see #EWZ-470-70977), I left it off for 30 minutes and tried again: Still nothing.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

What gives today - no throughput whatsoever, have verified the APN settings and they are correct, rebooted router, switched from LTE, 3G and same prblem, no throughput whatsoever... I have also inserted an MTN card to make sure it isn't network related but unfortunately that wasn't the case - the net works with an MTN inserted but with Afrihost no throughput whatsoever(says disconnected).

Hi there

Sounds like it could have been a dud SIM. It unfortunately does happen. If you could please PM me we can arrange to have a new SIM shipped to you to replace this one - once we've established that it's definitely not working correctly :(

Please drop me a PM so I can look into this - we'll need to check if you are authenticating as you should be on the network :(
