Two sims is the way to go. I started trying the service out with the cheapest sim (29 for 250) because of the old adage about things being too good to be true. 2 months in and I got the 2+3 as well. When that 2+3 runs out, then I use the 250 conservatively. You cannot beat the value or the service. For now.

When those first 1000 devices hit, I ordered two before you could say Bob is your aunt - unfortunately the congestion in my area was horrific, leading to 1 bar of 2G at best. I initially tried fighting with MTN, but the reality is that my area is filled with folks who will drop their whole lives to rally against anyone building a new cellphone tower. Issues aside, I stuck with it, and found use for the service when traveling. What I am getting at here is that I was very annoyed, and disliked the mobile offering immensely.

Skip forward a couple months, I've now moved, and live in an area more accepting of towers; the results are astounding!

- My connection has been running at 10.3mbps for 2 weeks.
- I get the same ping that I previously achieved on my Telkom line.
- Downloads literally sit at full connection speed without wavering for over 60min.

I've gone straight from dial-up, to ISDN, to ADSL, as they have been available, and I've never been this satisfied with my connection. Streaming sites like Twitch used to buffer on 380p on my 10mbps Telkom & unshaped Afrihost; AH Mobile streams in 1080p+ without so much as a single stammer.

I now have to decide whether to install a Telkom line in our new house, and I just can't force myself to make the call. The only reason I am even considering it, it because the mobile packages aren't quite big enough. AfriGuy, is there anything we could do to convince you guys to create a 20+20 or 25+25 package??!

TL;DR Such mobile package > Much bad signal > So angry > WOW! Such move to new house > Much good signal > So best internet ever > WOW!

Why not just top up on your current account? Swopping SIMS sounds like a pain - but if it works for you, that's awesome. Remember we're all so about to launch 10c a MB OOB rates, means you'll actually get 250MB at R25 - and have a single SIM :)

I second that. :)

I don't think we're gonna do that just yet. Remember that we're offering data below our own cost, so to offer high packages could make it really unviable at the moment. Once we can get some traction on better pricing for our clients - it could become a reality though :)

Thanks for sharing this with us - I think it's a reminder that it's pretty hard to have a mobile network that's perfect everywhere. Some communities block towers, some building are cell signal equivalent of the bermuda triangle and other geographical factors can cause problems. I know that MTN do invest millions (billions) into constantly improving their network, but every time a new technology like LTE comes around, it not just a question of upgrading a tower, a whole new network has to be built from scratch. Ultimately, I think we're very lucky to have the extensive coverage we do and be able to offer some great speeds to our clients :)

(a) first account was the 250 - so gig-sized topups would be stupid.
(b) 2 sims works because one sits in Wifi the other in a USB and allows me to connect other machines elsewhere.
(c) It's complicated :)

I think you misunderstand, to a degree, I just want to be able to get more data, even if I am paying the same price as the current 10+10 offering.

At the moment, I would have to setup 3 packages and swop sim cards, etc. Ultimately much hassle!

Can't I just get 30+30 at the exact same rate as 10+10? There would be no price impact on AH, it just makes the whole thing a little easier to manage.

Sure it would be great to have a slightly better price rate for a bigger package, but the above scenario will do just fine for the moment! Please please?

More data is always awesome, but I don't think we're at that stage to offer it just yet :(

I ordered a micro sim and such via clientzone on Monday, got the emails for address confirms and payment etc, but nothing since. When should I expect delivery of said sim card? Is there anyway to track this order?

Tracking should be available via the ClientZone. Drop me a PM if you get stuck, I'll see if I can spot anything on my end :)
