Yes, but doesn't help me when Afrihost Mobile goes to *****. Really considering going to Vodacom. Gatvol no for all these auth errors and slow speeds

Same here. I gave Cell C a try and it was even slower. No Telkom Mobile coverage in my area. That leaves Vodacom with their great network and high prices.

So for the time being, it looks like I'm going to have to stick it out with Afrihost. I'm sure they'll eventually be able to fix the capping issue permanently.

I have checked on Telkom Mobile LTE map, and my hometown of George, we now have LTE, but only from Telkom Mobile

Something is definitely wrong tonight with Afrihost Mobile. My speeds have dropped to way below. I have always gotten 8-10 mbps
Same here for the past two evenings. Reset my router, disabled dns servers, tried different dns...but still sites are loading very slowly in a staggered manner.

Hi guys.

I'm considering buying an Afrihost Mobile package end of the month.
I have concerns after viewing this thread.

What is the speed issue, where does it occur and is the network stable or offline at times?

What is the capping problem? Will it effect me if I sign up for a 2Gb prepaid package and use it in a 3G/HSDPA area?

Does Afrihost provide me with a simcard, or am I required to obtain a simcard and link it to them?

Thanks for any assistance :)

I you are happy with incredible crap client services like their accounts department, no support on weekends, ever holding times, no response to support tickets, authentication issues, being capped when you still have data left. If you happy with all of the above, then go for it.

I used to always recommend Afrihost to everyone, but recently their are just ****ing crap full stop.

4:18 PM and once again no put-through.

Network indication shows outgoing data, but no data is received

Same here, been struggling with authentication issues the whole weekend.

Sometimes I can access google, but following any page after that leads me to the account problem page.

Any idea whats going on?

I cancelled my uncapped account, and one of the main reasons was lack of support - tickets either weren't responded to, or were only responded to after a few days.

I'm sorry you had that poor experience. We did go through a period when we were horrible understaffed and our support turnaround times were really poor.

Should not be the case now :)

24 hours later and I'm still "capped". I sent a PM to Afriman during the afternoon (before 5) but never heard back.

So disrupting.

Edit: Contacted support and they quickly fixed it. Now I just wonder how long before this starts again.

Sorry about missing your PM. Haven't been checking my messages this weekend (my Telkom line is currently as dead as a thing that is very dead).

Glad to hear that our team managed to sort you out :)

+1

It's possible, though I haven't always noticed that this is the case. The fact that it affects such a small overall percentage of the mobile data users makes it very difficult to study and predict :(

It depends on whether you have changed locations, or if there is a demand or technical issue in your area.

How long have speeds been less than you've been used to?

Sounds like you might be getting poor coverage or maybe jumping between 2G and 3G service. Have you considered logging a coverage query with MTN about this?

We provide you with a SIM card free of charge (as well as free delivery), unless you want to use your existing MTN contract SIM to access our network.

We don't offer prepaid options, though you can opt for either topup, autotopup or out of bundle data to ensure that you always have enough data.

The capping issue we've seen affects a handful of clients at random. We are implementing changes as we go to try to minimise the occurrence. You should automatically be flagged if you hit the capped page and have available data, so we are also being as proactive as possible to make service as smooth as possible.

For the past week, this have been bad. I hope that it will get better, but then it got just worst.
