:(

That's not cool at all! I'll get our Team to have a look at your ticket ASAP!

I have just updated the ticket again with some more tests, the problem is persisting, please could you send me some feedback.

Thanks

@AfriGenie or @Afir*,
I have tried signing up again and again the sign up has failed, when I go back now to adding another package and again, at the point of entering my mobile number and the system check's it returns with the message
"This number cannot be used on the MTN network. It either belongs to another network or is prepaid."

AfriGenie said the issue was incorrect RICA doc and it was cleared last night ?

I thought we ditched those checks, not sure if it's been re-implemented.
Drop me a PM with your details and I'll see if I can spot anything here :)

Does Afrihost have any plans to implement data rollover, or is it better to go with Axxess for rollover?

For now we have no plans of rolling over normal data bundles, however rollover of unused topup data is very much a thing. :)

AfriPeople - I'd really like to upgrade to LTE, but I'm not sure what my signal is going to be like. Yes, I've looked at the coverage map, but that doesn't always equate to actual performance. R2k is a lot to shell out for a router if you don't know 100% that it's going to work. Can't you come up with an arrangement whereby a client can test an LTE device and return it if the experience is not what they're after?

Hey there Proze, testing a device and returning it if you don't have LTE coverage is unfortunately not possible. :( There are a couple of ways to test though and I'd be happy to discuss some options with you.

First of all, the MTN coverage map is accurate, but if you still feel uncomfortable we can look at other options. Are you an existing MTN client? If you have an LTE device (such as an LTE smartphone) with an MTN SIM card you can definitely check and confirm LTE coverage in your area. Alternatively, you can buy an MTN prepaid SIM (relatively inexpensive), APN a small amount of Afrihost data and test it that way.

Send me a PM if you'd like some more information or advice.

The Huawei B593 is backwardly compatible with HSPA (3G) and also has provision for two external aerials! So, if you don't get a booming LTE signal straight away, you can still use this device on 3G in the meantime!

Sure, but R2k is too much to spend for the 3G I already have. If I'm going to pony up the cash, I want to know it's going to work, and work well. At the moment, I'm unsure whether my poor throughput on Afrihost is due to high contention ratios on my tower or crappy 3G signal. Hence wanting to try LTE. For the last few weeks I'm unable to even stream 480p video from Youtube and I have to wait for pages to load.

Do you maybe have a phone, or even a friends phone, to test LTE in the area?
Have you tested for latency on the connection?

When using the AH APN on an LTE enabled smartphone do I need to put in any form of request or will my AH APN run at full LTE speeds?

We'll need to provision LTE for you, if we haven't already :)
Drop me a PM with the number and I can hook it up for you quickly.

Port my old Cell C pre-pay number to MTN yesterday and get a SMS from MTN that all was done by 10.30pm.
So I then log on to my Afrihost account and add mobile data package to this SIM.
Check handset at 8.30am and find Afrihost now active!

Impressed!

The SIM received a message from MTN at 11.30pm to say that LTE had been provisioned... Now the question is, does that mean Afrihost LTE is also provisioned?
