Just wandering if there is anymore news regarding Afrihost voice?
Have discovered my 3G/HSDPA woes are caused by MTN towers being down. They have known about it for a month now, and have done nothing. Looks like I might have to find another service provider![]()
Sooooooooo... I missed the rumor mill /memo on this one. Afrihost voice? There is definitely some news coming soon!We are currently in the testing phase and so far it is looking really, really awesome!

That doesn't sound cool at all!Do you have a coverage reference number that I can look into for you?

Great, will testing open to the public? and any idea on the date this news will arrive?
The first one is the latest one, the second one was where they say all was fine, and then the case number for the whole issue
Coverage call: 0079076
Access Ref: SMC/00004731849
Case # 10868655
Thanks! I'll request an update from MTN ASAP.![]()

All worked well until the first morning (and every morning since) when I get a MTNReward message at anywhere between 5.30am and 6.30am, which is not my idea of fun. This is in breach of the Electronic Communications Act, because MTN give no opt-out option in this message!
You should turn on the phones "quiet time" option for a good nights rest. On my phone its called Interuptions -> Downtime which is very obscure. Only sms or phone call from a starred/favourite contact can wake me.
I stupidly ported one of my numbers to MTN so that I could take advantage of Afrihost data!

Having communicated with MTN (I use the term loosely) I was told to use *130*601# and when that didn't work to use *130*603# and you can guess, that didn't work either!
I looks like there is no one at MTN who can give a competent answer, so I have raised a complain with ICASA.
Do you guys know of any secret codes or do I have to port away again and give up on using Afrihost data on my handset?

Is it not because of the tariff you are on?
MTN would definitely be aware of the ECT Act implications, so I doubt that it's their intention to violate that. It might just be a weird technical error that they need to get their heads around.
Where are you reporting this?
