Apn down? My mtn is working but afrihost sim not
 
Mobile issue confirmed.

We are receiving reports from clients unable to access Mobile Data services as normal. We are currently investigating the possible cause of these reports. We apologise to any affected clients and we would like to assure Mobile Data clients that we are addressing this matter urgently.
 
Starting to see some positive results come through now, for those guys having issues - please reboot and let me know if the APN functions as per normal now :)
 
I am always on my Afrihost APN....I just got an sms from MTN,...I am running low on my bundle data...they throw me 150megs per month, that I do not touch. Checked was still on my Afrihost APN...then I get an sms to say, I have depleted my MTN Data Bundle...checked, yep, zero data remaining and chowing into my credit. Checked my Afrihost logs, and was connected ... while being billed/charged by MTN for data. Called Afrihost, who confirmed that my data sessions were and are still open on my Afrihost APN...Can anyone assist?

I also get stupid SMS from mtn every couple of days, **** about how I used so many out of bundle MB at out of bundle rates, dial some number to load a bundle and save.

I am unable to check what my usage is on the mtn APN, or what my airtime was spent on. Cell C at least you can see what your usage breakdown is, but MTN is not that advanced.

I think I may have found a USSD code to opt-out of these SMS', I'm testing this now on my side, hopefully I'll have some good news for you guys. :)
 
Quick question - not sure if it has been covered here or not:

Using the APN on an MTN contract SIM - does LTE need to be specifically activated or will it work by default?

For our APN we will need to request LTE access for you. It's not enabled automatically.
