Does sound like an area related issue - if you're still having issues tomorrow we'll need to get a coverage query logged.

Yep, still having issues. I amazes me that MTN can't pick up that they have tower issues using their own diagnostics, and have to wait for customers to start complaining before doing anything.

I suspect I'll be back with Vodacom before very long, I get the feeling that this isn't going to be fixed in the short term, and i'm not going to carry on paying for the pathetic trickle of bandwidth that I'm getting at the moment.

I'm sure there is monitoring in place, have you had a coverage query logged yet?

AfriGuy,

Can you shed some light on this?
When I'm using Tapatalk on wifi or with the MTN apn it works fine and open links as normal but when I use the Afrihost apn settings it gives the errors below when opening Tapatalk and it won't open links at all, which is quite annoying.

When opening the app on Afrihost apn settings:

Wow... That's a strange one. Functionally there should be no difference between the MTN and Afrihost APNs.

For how long have you been receiving this error? Are you using the newest version of the App?

Not sure why this keeps on being said. There have been numerous occasions when AH have been down and I've switched over to the mymtn APN and got a working data connection again.

I'm using the latest version of Tapatalk, 6.0.11 build 745.

It only happens on the Afrihost apn and not wifi or the MTN apn.

I see that post ref# seemed to point to some downtime on our end - if you're still having issues with this you're welcome to shoot me a PM :)

I wonder if routing is somehow affected here...
Has this always been your experience when using the app?

I'm fine :).
Just trying to make the point that the APN's are functionally different in practice.

While that may be the case, it isn't how the system is designed though :)
Essentially all our APN does it route billing info to us - routing, peering and everything else is still done/ should still be done exactly the same as it runs via the very same infrastructure.

If these two statements are true:

1.) The system isn't designed to treat the APN's differently.
2.) I experience the APN's functioning differently.

Then it seems like you're paying lip service to how the system is supposed to work, rather than address how it actually works. I'll screen-record a video the next time it happens or something.

Always more than willing to troubleshoot, keep us posted.
