Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

Well my issue is resolved. All working now since Axxess allocated my data on my sim and account. I had to enter in the apn again as it gave the error connection failed the profile is invalid.
Awesome. That’s the exact same error I’m getting. Will check and ask them about the data tomorrow if it’s not working by then.

Still no luck. Data seems to have been loaded on my account, it's simply not working.
@The Axxess Lady Is there anything you could do to help, please?

You must have a different issue. Did you check your apn again. Mine for some reason reset back to its default mtn gprs setting
After that mine worked. Hope yours is sorted soon!

Thanks! Yep, even removed and re-added the APN and still no luck.
It must definitely be something with MTN and Axxess is really not coming to the party.
I'm just glad I haven't canceled Rain yet.

I'm thinking of switching to Axxess as well. They provide rollover for the same price

+1 as well as poss issue with Tower failure during power cuts. which I need to test before I cancel Rain for good.
That too. I'm with MTN and lose LTE every time there is a power cut.

That's no good. Hmmm so now the quandary....keep Rain @ R299 p/m just for power cuts. Pffft.
Might be lucky with my local tower...time will tell.

I often just purchase a Telkom Mo'Nice bundle during unplanned power outages as it is normally more convenient than trying to find a recently charged battery in the dark to power my Rain router.

Well Supersonic/MTN blocks the SIM card after about an hour after putting it into any other router, regardless of whether it works or not. Not sure whether its the same case with Afrihost, but I have a strong feeling it is...
Fark me. I just got my sim last night. It only warned me to use the sim on location only. Nothing about getting blocked in another device. I first tested it in my cat6 phone to see if and where in my house i get good signal. Worked for about 15mins then got disconnected. Even putting it in the approved B525 router does not recover it. Do you perhaps no if it can get unblocked?

I pop my rain SIM into my phone but keep my data usage reasonable, no videos, downloads, etc for the duration of the power cut.

Be carefull, i suspect they blocked my sim becuase I did a signal test in my cat6 samsung A70.
yeah Afrihost support told me to put it in a phone to get it blocked and then he would reprovison as part of a troubleshooting process.

I'm not sure why Rain don't let the Fixed LTE SIM cards stay active without a package and still let us purchase topups from time to time. If they offered us better pricing and performance I think many of us would reactivate the service or switch to the 5G service. At the moment the 5G router costs too much!

Ah man I am getting the run around from Axxess.

I would contact your service provider asap and let them know what happened. As far as I know it wont connect again to anything if you just leave it. I could be wrong

You have to request the unblock.

Eh, think you never read my post....

You have to request the unblock.

I did. Axxess said they would "request an unlock for samsung a70, samsung, smartphone" (as if they looked that up in some database or log file). They didn't seem to call it unblocking or reprovisioning, but hopefully its one and the same thing. They said this unlocking is done by axxess, not mtn.

Supposedly the sim locks to both the tower and the device, even if that device type is not authorised for the network. So, then you're locked to a banned device type and changing devices doesnt help until you are unlocked.

Unlocking and blocking...
