Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

Anybody else getting super low speeds in the evenings (for 1 week)? Seems to hit peak slowness around 8pm. Youtube on auto quality selects 144p type of slow... Signal strength looks the same as always.

Quick q @Afrigirl I've sold my B618 recently as I'm going overseas for a while in a few days and cancelled my month by month starting 1st Jan and still have loads of data for this month. Is it possible to use the LTE fixed wireless sim in my phone while I'm at home or will the sim be blocked as mentioned on their website?

Pity as such a waste of data, have nearly 150GB for this month left over and really don't want to buy data until I leave.

Hi @Afrigirl - word is you may be the only person that can help with this. So I have the Afrihost mobile uncapped package that i share with family. Only 2 people and they are under my profile. Is there a painless way to make one of the numbers under my profile as the main number that gets the uncapped data?

All I want to do is give the number under my profile that uses the most data the uncapped package.
What would be the steps to take and when would I need to take action as I know there are times that product change can not happen due to billing run or something along those lines.
*Oh and I might also be affected by the high battery drain APN issue.

Hello.

Package Upgrades.
A package upgrade is immediate, and you will be billed pro-rata when you confirm the upgrade.

Package Downgrades
Package downgrades take place at the beginning of the following month, and you don’t get billed for any downgrade that you do. The new billing for the downgraded package will commence at the beginning of the following month. The request will need to be logged before the 15th of the month.

I sent you a PM; please share your email address in the chat so I can look at your account, and I will advise accordingly.

Yikes. So that means if i upgrade the one number to uncapped i'll be charged for it and the downgrade will only happen next month.

I have roux.ddns.net with Afrihost but in the Axxess pool because I need a public IPV4 address - this part week while on my Axxess fixed MTN LTE I noticed very high pings to my fibre connection (200km away).

Not looking for a solution - but an explanation will be good.

My daughter wants to sign up for LTE. She is moving into a new apartment and doesn't have anything for proof of residence at the new place. What can we provide for RICA? @Afrigirl @AfriNatic
Don't know if Telkom LTE is a consideration for her (vs MTN), and if it is, then you could use your address to RICA - at Afrihost, Axxess etc - and she can use the SIM at her flat.

Telkom don't mind us moving their "fixed" LTE SIMs around the country, as you may know ?
(unlike MTN).

I think the challenge is the delivery. As I understand it, the ID book that Rica'd the sim needs to be on hand when it's delivered.
True, I certainly needed to be there for my Axxess and Afri SIM deliveries.

Those logistics will need to be sorted before ordering.

A temp option would be to get a prepaid Telkom SIM RICA'd anywhere, to start off, then get up to 180 +180 GB (the unused Anytime of which would roll over after 30 days, up to 60).

I don't think they offer the 220 + 220 GB anymore, except, strangely enough, when you want to top up.

I'm only avoiding MTN, because under the circumstances, prepaid can be hit & miss in terms of what they offer you at any point in time, while Telkom have predictable prepaid offers at relatively good rates.

Maybe Afri will have a solution, if they answer ...

Good morning.
Yes, we can RICA. She can submit all required RICA documents via ClientZone before we proceed with delivery. She can attach your proof of residence for RICA purposes and set her delivery address to her new place.

Good Evening
