Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic

My daughter has just signed up for MTN pure LTE. She went through the process of ordering but opted for SIM only because she managed to source the same TP-Link MR600 LTE router you were offering for R1500 for R600 so we got it.

Now she gets an email saying her SIM has been blocked because her router is not an approved model.
Why?

Subscriber Unlock Request Queued. I will speak to Dev to update the email sent out on the MTN LTE package.

I am having a big issue with this product during loadshedding as I connect to another tower and that tower won't allow me to browse any website even though it says connected.... Once loadshedding ends then I am able to have throughput again.

Happens to everybody guy. Get yourself HUACTRL on your phone and if you have a Huawei router, you can manually change your bands, which might connect you to a better tower !

This has been my experience for a while now, except it persists for me even when load shedding is over. Also, doesn't matter which tower I connect to, its all the same. Completely unusable. I have to use my backup internet just to be able to post this.

The past 3 days haven't had no connectivity but did speak to another mtn subscriber in the area. Internet is on and off.

Hi

Please drop me a pm with your address so we can look at the status of the towers close to you.

Quick one,

Is datashare possible with these Afrihost Fixed MTN LTE packages?

Hi

We allow data transfer from one MTN fixed LTE to another MTN Fixed LTE but we unfortunately do not have data share or a multi sim option.

Unfortunately its seems like the Port Shepstone Tower is now completely overloaded. Can hardly get 3Mbps anymore on 5G. @AfriNatic any hope they will add more capacity? Thanks.

Will have to cancel if it can't even provide 3G speeds - is MTN the new Rain -lol?

Have you restarted the router?

For 5G I recommend setting the auto-reboot feature to reboot daily between 2 and 3am to make sure there aren't any speed issues due to network conditions that might change.

Yes multiple times. Tried this morning at 7:30 and got 300Mbps down - now hard to get 3. Seems to be good old tower congestion.
