Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

going with another service provider , over this struggle with no resolution in sight

Hey all, looking at grabbing a Pure LTE 20mb uncapped for a family member, they live in Joburg but currently on holiday in Durban. Would I just do the order for my address and then she can change/update location in the afrihost site when she heads back to Joburg?

Hi.

Yes, you can update the address when they are back in JHB.

Thanks Afrigirl, whats the typical time for delivery of a sim card for the pure lte? Less than a week from order or longer?

So I'll have her make her own account, state delivery etc. for Durban addy then when she heads back to Joburg she switches location in settings dashboard. Cool.

Delivery can take 3 to 7 days once order has been placed and the card details are verified.

@AfriNatic I'm considering going the uncapped LTE route.

My understanding is that you get throttled to 1mbps if you reach 1TB. Is it possible to "top-up" if you reach this limit and get back to normal speeds? I get 100mbps on average, but I doubt that I will ever use 1TB. I was just curious whether a "top-up" can be used to circumvent this?

This is a really good question. I don't think topup are enable for this account however I will have to confirm first before I can actually tell you the correct info.

Hi @AfriNatic

I was wondering if you ever managed to figure out whether we could "top-up" on uncapped LTE (MTN)?

I hit 1 TB a few days ago, and am now throttled to below 1Mbps until the end of the month.

That is a long wait for an entire household with basically zero internet.

Surely there must be some way we can "Top up" to get ~50 gigs at normal speeds?

Hello.

Unfortunately, the request was not approved.

Just to confirm. Is it possible to arrange a 100mbps Pure LTE and get it delivered to my place in Eastern Cape, then take the the router down to Durbs when I go on holiday and stay connected?

Yes you can update the address in clientzone. Please update it at least 2 hours before using it at the new address. It's not mobile data so can not be used as mobile data while travelling.

How many times a year or month do you allow for update change ?

The traffic restored at around 6pm.

There is a major fibre break again between Tygerberg and Great Westerford that happened at around 4am. MTN technicians are waiting for armed security escort to attend to the break.

We are enabling a new EPG in CPT for MTN Fixed LTE clients. Clients will start gracefully in a round robin phase possibly land on this new epg. If you do you will get an MTN ip.
