Well my Afrihost experience is terrible
And I cannot get proper support
I bought the R99 package R39.50 + 1GB data
I only got the airtime, no data.
The Airtime keeps decreasing mysteriously, I cannot connect to data (yes the apn in pointing to afrihost)

Frustrated beyoud tears

Sorry to hear we've let you down :(
Is the airtime that's being used not being allocated to a reason at all via ClientZone?

From the Mobile thread, if anyone's having issues with their APN/ Mobile data.

Hi guys

Confirming there's an issue here. Running resets on my end hasn't seemed to have helped.
Our Engineers have logged an urgent query with MTN directly - we're working with them to see this resolved.

Oh no :(
Can you confirm what DNS servers you're using please?

Not original complaint but me too and Afrihost ones

I thought I'd add onto this, I experienced the same issues last night, including latencies to overseas spiking to 4.4 seconds, I basically gave up and switched to my XDSL account. The first time this happened I logged a support ticket and the response was my capped profile being checked and port reset (Even though I clearly mentioned other users in MyBroadband).

What's going on these past few days ?

Isn't that why there's different channels? Accounts, DSL, general quarries, mobile etc.

We use the categories for various purposes - stats and reporting, etc.

Ultimately all our agents are able to assist in any category of support :)

I'm not aware of a general outage, but I have seen a few people mention rises in latency. It's possible that if demand rises sharply, it may be in the period that we're enabling shaping on Uncapped accounts to manage our bandwidth.

Nope,
and to quote your support:
"Hmmmm, I wonder what could cause it, what device are you using?"

This after live sessions, support ticket, Facebook chat etc.

If the APN is not connecting correctly, it could be defaulting to MTN's APN and using your airtime as data. I'd need to troubleshoot with you to confirm :(

What time about is this because everything was just fine to round about 10-11pm round about there.

Your support says sorry, "hard to troubleshoot". My bad luck then.
My phone cannot even connect. (Samsung S4). The gprs/h+/3G icon does not come on. Something went wrong with the sim.
It is as if MTN cut the data functionality completely since I dialled that ussd confirmation number

My connection was working 100% last night until about 23:30, I downloaded the Dirt Rally update which was 17.1GB, which downloaded at full speed, and that's how the connection ahs been the past few months, full speed, and its been great. This morning I needed to check emails before going o work, and nothing will work. Cannot do a speed test, emails refuse to download. So trying to troubleshoot is a bit difficult, but extremely frustrating that Afrihost seem to be unaware of any issues.

Just comments here on MyBB, so seems like around that time in the evening, anywhere between 8pm and 11pm. We'd need to do some specific troubleshooting and get specific times to see what changes could be triggered on the network at that time.

That's very unlikely - but I guess anything is possible. We need to test though, cos there is definitely no issue with our APN and Samsung phones :(

It's hard to quantify without some test results. As a quick test, I would try switching to a different account (like a 1GB free) and getting a new IP address to see if that changes your experience. Also, if you are not using dynamically assigned DNS, please switch over to that setting.

serious packet loss on my 3rd hop:(

We're definitely not seeing general packet loss on the network. Is it possible that you're seeing packet loss on your BRAS? Can you ping bras.afrihost.com?

Nothing, see second test below the one I posted above to bras.afrihost.com

Well I am not the only 1 with this issue, and I cannot do tests now as I am not at the office.

Does seem mostly OK. I think we should monitor and run few tests to see if the latency is consistently on that hop. If that's the case we can kick it up to the network team.
