Speed test and trace routes, local and international, still perfect. :)

Latency is crazy low. Got a friend who's on XDSL's business fiber and I get 7ms ping to him. 9ms in a speedtest and 16ms to google's 8.8.8.8 dns

Still shows me as being from JHB, but speeds are great (Syncing 14Meg) :)

Hey guys,
Just a note - Downloads from the news server are more erratic than I'm used to.
Generally max out at 1.8MB/s. It's currently fluctuating between 800KB/s to 1.5MB/s averaging 1.1MB/s.
Only seeing this today. Yesterday was fine.

I'll give this a test now, saw line speeds on NNTP with paid providers - are you seeing these results off news.afrihost?

Really good to see this feedback.Have cancelled with WA and will be moving my second ISP account to Afrihost next month.

Hey guys

Just a quick one, we've picked up some anomalies with caching on the East IPC.
This means that some sites/ services may be a bit touch and go for now. It's something we picked up earlier today, and have our guys working on a fix. We're hoping for a fix to be implemented within the next few days though :)

I'll have more updates around this as soon as they're available.

My results on 4Mbps capped account.

I am also finding different results for AfriGreen than the New Afrihost network - even though AfriGenie says it's now the exact same network

here are some comparitive speedtest results on my 8 Mbps DSL line synching at 5 703 kbps in Cape Town:

Second series of tests run between 15:00 to 16:00 show slower results:

Account ping ms down kbps up kbps
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Incredible Connection Uncapped 23 4104 496
AfriGREEN home capped 36 4052 495
Afrihost (NEW network) capped 27 3988 496
Vox Fat Pipe capped 34 3912 512
Axxess (NEW network) capped 26 3781 498

The difference in latency in the second series of tests would seem to indicate that AfriGreen is still going via JHB while the AfriNew is using the new Cape Town (Southern) IPC

Off news.afrihost. That generally satisfies my needs :)

OK coolios, lemme line up some tests quickly. I'll report back in a bit.

I may have failed a bit here... news.afrihost pulls content nicely for me at 1MB/s, maxing out my line. But I see that isn't really your problem, since you get that anyway but used to more.

How many connections do you have setup?

I've had to change DNS to Google's 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 while changes in the East are being done. Nothing was working at all. Glad to see changes are being made, however.

Looks good to me!

Are you able to paste some traceroutes so we can see how things are routing?

DNS isn't an issue :)
If you had auto-assigned DNS, where you unable to browse at all?
