Has Seacom been sorted out yet? Just asking because I am streaming perfect on twitch at the moment (until 6ish when people get home from work and the congestion takes over...) :(

We don't use Seacom as a primary cable, so that won't affect us at all :)

169.1.2.1 is working again :D . Oh 169.1.2.1, how I have missed you.

LOL :)

There are costs involved for an ISP such as AH for hardware upkeep, paying their employees etc. just as there's cost involved for the consumer to pay for these services, so it goes both ways.

What has me wondering though, is data rollover. Why can a client not keep their unused data? Does it cost a provider too much?

A limit can be put in place so that data can't be horded, but it would be nice to have a feature like this. A customer will still continue paying their account as normal but it kinda feels like they get the short end of the stick if they don't use a full 100GB or 150GB every month.

It's hard to strike a balance because 75GB is too little and 100GB may be too much. Besides, a 75GB account doesn't benefit from a midnight deal. If someone has a 100GB account, they pay R199. It seems a bit unfair to not get their money's worth if they only use 85GB, and forfeit 15GB. That's throwing money down the toilet.

The month-to-month demand will most likely differ all the time...

It's just a thought :)

Is the Twitch stream a replay or is it live?

Sorry for taking so long to reply, yes it is a live stream.

Still doing the same, really do not know what to do at this point. Also asked for help in the live chat with no luck.

I tried to change my dns, no difference, changed back and now I'm unable to connect to afrihost. Currently using my WA backup account. Is there authorisation problems as well?

It's part of how we price our data, so try to push data prices as low as possible on a forecast of how much data is used or not used. This becomes pretty scary, and many months we actually subsidise packages becuase we keep our margins so low. We definitely use every opportunity to give clients more data and value, even when it means that we sometimes put in more than we make :)

How long will it take for a new adsl line to be activated? The line has never had adsl.

We generally see it within 30 days, but it depends on the Telkom team in your area. Best we've seen is just a few days to a week, but it really depends on Telkom.

Shouldn't be any auth issues at all. If you can connect still, please PM me :(

Telkom set my line sync lower again... I see TelkomZA is offline, any way i can get this sorted by you guys at Afrihost? Need port set to "Manual" rather than ASSIA just like TelkomZA did a while ago for me.

Stuck at 16379kbps....

:(

This is a tricky process. Telkom have started changing their policies yet again, over the past few weeks we could phone into the Wholesale Call Center and ask that the line sync profile be manually changed, however this is no longer possible. For the moment we are unable to change line sync profiles or change the line from interleaving to fastpath.
