Afrihost New Network Feedback

I don't think we're trying to point the blame to our clients or the equipment - but we've reviewed queries that come up and so far, we simply cannot find a trend or something that needs fixing.

Networks are incredibly complex things, so while a trend may appear to you guys here (myself included here) it doesn't translate for our network team. If there was something that our teams spot, it would be written here.
Anyway, drop me a PM with your DSL username and any tests you've been able to run and I'll have someone from our team get in touch to review things in finer detail with you.

Networks are actually pretty straight forward to a true network specialist. I've had the privilege to work with two in the past 20 years. I am not saying you are shifting blame. What I am saying is that you can do all the speedtests, tracerts, download tests you like; it will not mean anything if there is misconfiguration, faulty equipment or capacity issues. I have paid the school fees on these Afrihost issues. When you guys moved to MTN it was a nightmare for us, then came the POC and the usability was short lived because of capacity constraints. The new network came online and all was well until recently. I've seen people religiously post their speedtests, tracerts and various other test results on this forum and these things hardly ever make any difference. The only time things get traction is if this stuff reaches boiling point. For now the link is working. If it does this again, and I have the time I will PM you. During which hours are you on duty?

Still a good deal though :)
Bit tough for us to offer the discount on the line as the margins on DSL line rentals are practically zero.

But if said friend wants a Bundled capped account he cant use my code because the link redirects to the data only page.

I'm here until 9pm tonight, start my shift at midday this week.
Looking forward to your PM.

Glad your updates are back to what they should be. :)

Have you considered creating a PPPoE connection for your Afrihost or Afrigreen account? It is much quicker and easier to change between them than updating your router. :)

Problem is I do not think it will stay this way.
Yes I also use PPPoE on my Windows laptop. However there are various other systems and other platforms we use.

Is it your Windows 10 PC that struggles with updates?

Still the same problem

Logged a support call , since the call on Sat did not generate a support ticket , awaiting feedback

Have wireshark captures , as requested but support expects printscreens of capture , really do you know how many screenshots that would take?

Every speed test to Jhb is always the 38 MB , its the difference in the Capetown test , anything from 12 MB to 38 MB , for a speed test that is so prioritized on any network to give that

Can you paste the ticket ref# here please? I'd like to have a specialist team take a look at the query.

nope. used the one link you posted last night, downloads at 950kB/s. As I have said, its p2p where the problem is

Not sure why torrents differ for you so much.
I'd definitely recommend submitting some detailed feedback via our Support team for our network team to review from their end too.
