Well, for me it is between 19:00 and 22:00 again and Usenet slow again. Running tonight at quarter line speed. Slightly faster than last night

Odd how its at certain times every day, and no one can see an issue? Do you have any test accounts with other ISP's you can test. I have the same issue, when I switch to webafrica my torrents fly. So its not something on my side or congestion or the exchange.

Usenet's running at line speed for me.
Not sure if I asked last night, but what ports are you using?

Is Usenet the only slow protocol for you?

Ticket ID: BOG-485-94449
Department: Afrihost - ADSL Support
Priority: High

Thanks, I've asked our Critical Care team to give you a shout to run over a few things with you.
The reason our team asked for more detail here is that the traceroute seemed to come out Hetzner. Either way, our team will be in touch tomorrow to troubleshoot further.

I have an old mweb account running at full line speed

Now I get told after submitting a ticket that its congestion and my router is degrading? How can this be if all I change is the user name on my router, click apply, and then I am at 100% speed using a different ISP? HP_Exarkun seems to have the same issue. Now I have been asked to do all the same tests over again, and this is after posting all my test results on these forums.

Torrent sitting last night. Stop it, restart this morning, maxes at 1148kB/s

Your support staff claim its congestion, I don't believe this, and why are a few users experiencing the same things always at the same time, where other ISPs don't have the same issues?

I never understand why Afrihiost actually admit there could be an issue, all we get is on my line is working 100%, so it has to be pour problem. I still maintain if its congestion all ISP's will have the same issue at the same time, and I asked Telkom to check my line there are no issues or issues at the exchange.

Thanks for this post PurSpyk. You have just saved me hours of frustration. Can't believe I let them almost convince me to follow the "specialist" support route with my issue. Over the years it has been my experience as well. If you want to chase up your blood pressure, get Afrihost support to work a performance problem with you. No thanks, I will pass this time. The golden nugget here is when you change ISP credentials the problems go away. Why should we spend hours helping an ISP sorting issues. My strategy will be as follows. If the current issues continue, I will move to another ISP. Even if it is more expensive. You more than erode any perceived monthly savings by constantly spending time to work issues.

Agree 100%, its almost like the responses are generic, and my actual issue is not even addressed. I doubt this will ever be resolved. Frustrating, irritating and money wasting. I will do a test tonight with my free Axxess account just to see if they have the same issues, I know they are suppose to use the same network, bit if their system works 100% then I want to find out the next excuse.

When can we see the 1meg packages fall away and get upgraded to 2meg for free?

Probably not anytime soon, Telkom re-introduced 1Mbps DSL Lines specifically because there are some areas that don't have access to higher speed lines.

There was a lot of demand from our Clients for a 1Mbps Uncapped account, as having a 1Mbps DSL line with a 2Mbps Uncapped account was less than ideal.

:(

It's definitely not a network-wide issue, I tested an Uncapped account last night on my home connection and I was consistently maxing out the connection with P2P traffic.

We've double and triple checked your account and it is running exactly the way it should be.

Do you see the same issue at any times of day?
