Afrihost New Network Feedback

Hi Afrihost,

We are experiencing some issues here in KZN the company I work for uses office 365 for email , it appears that it is timing our a lot and acting very erratically, also experiencing, Aliexpress and other international sites are almost inaccessible, we have also had reports of slowness when vpning to our office from JHB.

I did open a support ticket :)

We are aware of the issues in KZN, and we are definitely looking into this as top priority :(

I showed AGuy the same issue, he just shrugged it off,

The ROUTER/EXIT node in cape town is damaged or congested.

Get it replaced.

The team have confirmed for KZN but there is no known problem in either the North (JHB) or Cape Town (South).

The more details you can provide, the more we can try to replicate. I promise that every bit of information is passed onto the network NOC team who then try to replicate under the same conditions and (where possible) with the same individual username.

This is why I got so irritated last week, prove a point and its denied.

I think the issue you are referring to is separate to the one we're discussing. The problem with international that I have mentioned is only confirmed in the East and our monitoring shows performance in the North and South should be fine at the moment.

Any indication on what the problem is? and why we have been struggling for 2 days already?

It's a bit hard to read that result with context. Can I see the full trace?

Trace complete.

I did a trace last week and got the same outcome.

I did a trace last week and got the same outcome.

If you're being routed through Durban (which your trace suggests) then you would be included in the problems we're seeing. As far as I know international traffic does mostly break out in Cape Town, but the issue is happening in the East only, so the Cape Town breakout shouldn't be the issue.

Where does it say KZN?

It goes from JHB to CT directly.

I think the issue you are referring to is separate to the one we're discussing. The problem with international that I have mentioned is only confirmed in the East and our monitoring shows performance in the North and South should be fine at the moment.

I am just mentioning we reported issues, and provided all the testes requested, and in the end nothing was even done. I was also told by Critical care that they cannot just test with our account details as that would disconnect the client, so how is the testing being done with the users information as per your earlier post. Not looking to cause issues, just wondering.

As I said, it's where possible. So we would sometimes give clients alternate accounts, or used their login if they are Capped clients that can accept multiple connections. Either way we try to match the testing conditions as closely as possible, testing on a normal ADSL line, and using the same product the client is using.
