Afrihost New Network

Hi All.

I have not been one who has been asked to beta test the new network. I can say though that since the testing of the new network started my quality of service has degraded even further. I mean sometimes I cannot even get to google services and on other times my page returns a 404 cannot be found error.

Upon phoning them I was informed that they are transitioning onto their own network and that they are moving away from MTN network due to very high latency issues. Other than that they cannot really assist me further.

Trying now a different service provider all has returned to normal with faster browsing. Time for me to move on I would say.

I have questions over there business ethics as well in allowing customers to be so compromised while they testing something in beta phase still with no real time frame of when it would be completed.

Yes I thought so myself. I am not to sure where this is going to leave them considering that MTN owns a 50% +1 share if I am not mistaken. I do interestingly recall though on how the forums were abuzz around that time with many users not particularly thinking it was a good move. It was always defended though that more and better services would be able to be offered to their clients, and anything but that materialized and now according to support and some of the other reported tests of the new network on the forum it appears that they moving away.

Anyway I have in the meantime acquired the services of a new ISP which in these initial stages have proved a lot faster and more stable than what I had experienced from Afrihost in the last little while.

so MTN network not suitable ..hhhmmm

mistake Afrihost ?
