Has anyone else got the email from afrihost to test their new network?

i have tried it and it would seem that they are moving from MTN to Neotel as this new account is running on neotel's network

Code:
pp0.1                   up    up   inet     169.0.99.29         --> 41.170.76.97

The 2nd tracert posted there has less hops and an average less ms time between hops.

well i think the great thing here is that with neotel they use more of the peering locally than MTN which will do wonders for latency!

Some other interesting fact, i see if i look at their route propagation for that range 169.0.0.0/15 it is being advertised from Afrihost to ECHOTEL and then to NEOTEL!

Wondering why they didnt just go to neotel directly!? Why using such a small player such as echo?

Also got my new details, but interesting to see that latency have increased

I haven't received any e-mails but my latency has been shocking for the last week or two, Today it's at 539. Shocking! Maybe it's time to look for a new isp:mad:

Got myself that Fatpipe 100g for R164 from Vox and it's working like a charm!

Hey

So I have a 10Mb Business Uncapped account

The things I noted so far

1. There is no DynDns, eg:(johnsmith1,afrihost.co.za) I have logged a call using the Client Zone, Selected the DNS option, then the Tech came back to me and told me to log a call through the Client Zone. WTF!

2. speed test was about 8Mbps with 30ms Ping im in JHB and the test automatically ended up in Bleom. Jitter was bad thorugh about 200Ms

3. I noticed in the cleint zone that I have 5TB at my disposal, compared to the other one where it said Unlimited

It seems more stable though so far

Hey,
I'm on a 10mb business uncapped as well.
In the Cape Town area, there is the expected latency issues that we were warned about, but otherwise all seems to be going well.
I can still stream most of my content with minor loss of quality.

So far so good.

So, this morning my streaming has gone to s***. Anyone experimenting with the new network and having these issues?

Seems to be a generic issue. Old network is doing the same for me. Either vids are not loading at all or I'm watching in the glory of 240p.

How do you figure that?

You're not quite interpreting it right... but regardless the latency is overall lower on the new network. The latency is still strangely high though - latency to Google should be under 30 ms.

Has Afrihost released any word from their side on the moving hereof from MTN to Neotel? Or is this just an observation from traces captured by resident forumites?
