A question to Afrihost.
Do I have to switch to this test network or can I just stay where I am ?
I ask this because I have never had a problem with AH except a week or 2 ago when I complained to Afriman that they were screwing up my connection to fix others and kudu's to him he admitted that this was the case and within no time all was well again.
Basically what I'm saying is if I stay where I am, will I somehow loose out in the future with a maybe better connection ?
I have 50+50 Capped connection.

You have the choice - it's totally up to you. If you're happy with your current experience, there is no need to move. If you are finding that you're not happy on our regular network, then AfriGreen may be a better alternative. AfriGreen is a proof of concept, so there could be a few wrinkles to iron out. But generally, there is enough feedback on this thread and info for you to make an informed decision :)

AfriGreen, apart from the slightly increased latency, has been awesome thus far.

An absolute pleasure to use.

AfriPeeps, make it stay as thus, and only improve the latency!

Latency should improve immediately when we get Cape Town IPC. We'll also look at how we can improve backhaul routing as we gain more experience with the infrastructure we're using.

That's definitely weird. Tested torrents myself over the weekend, so should be working.

Drop me a link if you can so I can test (you can do it via PM if you prefer)

Downloaded torrents last night, download speeds were above par ( performance was stellar). Afrigreen seem to be working for me this side.

After reading the thread almost cancelled, but tested Afrigreen, never had a problems since I received my username last week. YouTube and streaming is proper. This used to be a challenge on AH accounts.

Well then it will be perfect.

The AfriGreen has survived peak-hours, after-hours and the weekend with all the kids streaming, gaming and whatnot that goes with it... and with not a disconnect nor (more importantly) a single complaint from those using it.

Keep it up, it really is being appreciated down here.

/two thumbs up

Glad to hear you're sticking it out with us, thanks :D

Replicated on my end too :(
Not sure if tweaks are being implemented or it's just a bit of a wobbly. Following this up with our network guys.

Seems mostly fixed now guys. If you're still seeing weirdness please reboot.

Is anyone else having issues with Afrigreen and Dota 2 ? ...

Last night again I had to switch over to my regular AH account as Afrigreen was having such latency and packet loss I couldn't play ...

Starting to get really annoying ... If I want to stream I need afrigreen, if I want to game I need my reg AH ... ... seriously ... why

Mine went down right in the middle of my invoicing on a cloud based service.
That is the last straw.
The last transaction on my Afrihost bandwidth will be accessing the VOX website to sign up.

I've seen a few guys post experiences here, seems mixed at the best of times :(
Any tests you can submit here?

Sorry to hear - but we're constantly running tweaks, last week mentioning a few times the network needs to go offline to complete this. While the network is running pretty well, I don't think it's at a point to be 110% stable as it's still quite early phases of the POC.

I'm aware of your cancellation as we discussed it via PM, sincerely wish you the best of luck going forward.

Thanks, and for your help.

I realise I should not have tried doing business critical functions on a Test network. The problem is I have to switch between AfriGreen, AfriVanilla and Telkom so often I forget which is currently active. That is no way to work and unfortunately has become the reality on Afrihost.

I may be back if the issues ever get fixed.....

Had some latency last night but packet loss was 2%<. Was only for a little while though. For about 10 minutes during the draft of the Vega game. Once the game started it was all ok again.

Anything you have in mind that I can run for you ? (doubt it's my line/hardware, because the reg AH Business account was fine)

Mine was only fine after the switch to my reg account, everything even when playing Dota 2 on green is a slideshow for me. Weird.
