Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

So Afripeople. Have you'll managed to figure out why I continue to have the problem of being unable to browse while http downloading?

I've done all the tests being asked. My web africa account works fine. I've made no changes to my network setting or anything.

This problem is becoming hugely frustrating.

This is errors I get when I try to browse while downloading

I'm really not sure how this can be happening on our end :( I've tried replicating this and can't see the same errors.
Is there error there across all browsers and all downloads?

What is going on, this constant change in routing is getting rather annoying.
I reported it on the 08/08/2015.
Clearly Afrihost do not know what they are doing, or the problem is being ignored.

Throughput drops for a second and latency spikes for a second every minute or so, and routing changes.
I have never seen this on any ISP before, Hop 1, 2 & 3 should be exactly the same 100% of the time.

I do not know how else to inform you guys, I get snotty responses when submitting via ClientZone, and nothing happens when I post it here.

If you expect me to test a network please take the time to investigate what I am saying.

To make matters worse, Your team can not read?
I was not complaining about throughput....
And I already supplied Trace Routes

There's no expected throughput problems at this stage on the POC accounts, could you kindly test again & attach a few screenshots & trace-routes so we can further troubleshoot - if you are still experiencing problems.

Thanks in advance :)

The error is across all browsers and all http downloads (torrents no issues).

Testing today though I've noticed that not all websites don't browse. The sites I'm unable to browse while downloading are gmail, twitter, facebook, linkedin, elance, google search, mybroadband forum too at times and few others too (these just the ones i've noticed I can't browse while downloading)

But youtube works even though I can't stream higher than 360p (on web africa account I can stream 720p while downloading simultaneously) wikipedia also works and some of forums I visit work and torrent sites work.

I'm not aware of any routing changes today, are you in touch with our Critical Care team though?
From what I can see from the results above there isn't much latency difference.

I do not want to be rude, or start a fight, but please read the post again slower.
You will see what I am talking about.
This should not be happening.
This is causing dropped connections.
PS this has been happening for almost 2 weeks.....

Just confirmed with our team, this shouldn't be affecting your throughput - this is simply a load balancer switching between IPC links.

It shouldn't be, no. Just updated post #2578 with some info around it - this definitely won't cause an authentication drop though.

Ok, I give up.
I understand load balancing at IPC level. But when it balances it drops packets not authentication.

Switching between IPC links shouldn't be dropping packets, it's an incredibly quick move over that shouldn't be affecting anything.
Is this happening at a particular time, or when you're doing anything in particular?

What happens if you download via your browser and not a download manager?
Also, if you setup a download on your PC are you able to browse on another PC/ device?

Download speeds are averaging around 100kbps at the moment for some reason so can't test if the browsing/download issue works without using a download manager. Once speeds improve I'll test it without using download manager (though I've never had issues using download manager before)

When downloading is at full speed unable to browse the same sites on my phone either.

This really is a very peculiar issue, not matter how much traffic I push through my line I can still browse, albeit slowly.
Maybe you can look at QoS to create browsing as a high priority while downloading takes a back seat?

I decided to give ShowMax a try but am only achieving a throughput of 75Kbs, I would have expected more from a local stream.
Is this a POC issue or a source limit?

I personally haven't run any tests, saw some feedback where the service was working well earlier on.
What's your experience like?

It seams to be OK, I was mainly interested in testing the Free Account Set-up process (Simple, painless and no Gotchas) to test streaming local shows for my In laws. They miss their Afrikaans shows when I have them House sit. This looks like it will fit the bill nicely and Free is a great price :)

Even streaming at 75Kbs the picture quality is better than I can get from SATV on a bunny ears antenna and sound quality was good so I think they will like it if I can make it easier for them to use. I told them the Mouse is a one button TV remote but they didn't fall for it, Techno Phobia is an Issue :)

Tested out some Binnelanders now, streams all good :)
