So, I have been on Afrihost 10GB @ R190. But now I see that pre-paid is only R15 per GB which works out cheaper (R150 for 10GB).

To me the pre-paid is better because it last for three months; but is there any reason to stay on monthly? It does not make sense to me why anyone would stay on the monthly package; unless I am missing something here.

Its pretty cool deal, a gig for less than a packet of Camel lights.

However this may only be a temporary marketing deal, and could fall away soon.

I would suggest you go for it, then you can get about 2 packets of camel lights, and sit back, light them up, and smile.

I have a 2GB+1GB Free Afrihost account which I use for back-up. But yes, the prepaid option is much more suitable for backup. It used to be R39/Gig, so R15/Gig is a steal. I hope it remains a permanent feature.

I say go for the prepaid. Most ISPs are selling Gigs for low prices prepaid so if afrihost stops with the R15 you can always get that deal from other ISPs

I would go with the prepaid option if that price is to remain like that.

Yeah, prepaid is very convenient and economical. I much prefer purchasing when I need than having to pay a monthly fee to use data that doesn't even roll over to the next month (or even year for that matter...)

Okay, so I bought a few prepaid gigs from them.
I get better pings with Afrihost than with a cape town based ISPs because i stay in Centurion, Gauteng, and Afrihost is setup in Johannesburg, bazouw!
Happy so far.

Afrihost does not have its own network and uses Internet Solutions (IS) for their bandwidth, so where they are physically located is irrelevant.
