I signed up on the 22/9 and got an invoice with a customer number. I then got an sms asking me to activate by sending a copy of id, which I did on the 23rd. Since then nothing??? I see that my bank account has been debit but no username info. What is the norm. And they only have office hours. I cannot get the 24hr support to work as it needs your username and password!

Something went wrong, maybe resend your ID.

I did mine on Thursday (Heritage day) and it took just over an hour since I sent a copy of my ID. Excellent service!

Is sending the ID required? Even if I pay with my (wife's) credit card?
Really don't have that sort of time to waste but need connection in the next 30 minutes ...

Paid by credit card and now asked to send proof of who I am??
Come on its a online credit card payment.. its meant to be instant!!

This is their reason:
While we know that the vast majority of our new clients are honest and
trustworthy, the unfortunate truth is that in the past dishonest people used
fake details to sign up with us.

They then used up all of the traffic allocated to them and we had to absorb
this cost. This led to a significant increase in our overall costs.

Uh?

You have my cash I just paid it with my credit card?
[Palm to face]

*I actually took the effort to fax my drivers through but nothing happened. They said they received some but they were illegible. So if your account is not activated then resend your id.

This resulted in me having to purchase topup from my current ISP, credit card payment and instantly activated.

Not worth the effort if you ask me. :(

You realise this is in part due toe some abuse which happened wrt proxies and stuff and foreign credit cards being billed after the numbers were stolen and used to buy webspace from Afrihost, they're just covering themselves...

It's not? I had to jump through a fair number of hoops myself to get my account activated but the long term savings made it worth it.

It's a generally accepted business process. A bit of a hassle but worth it.

WA also ask for a copy of ID even on CC accounts but, once they have the copy of your ID you can add services etc without needing to send it again.

Signed up for this, on Thursday but couldn't get a copy of my ID through until today.

Once I did it was sorted within 10 minutes :D

GREAT Great service!!! :)
