More than a month that I'm battling to get LTE working with the apn option that I got with afrihost. Nothing no help no feedback. I cancelled it cause its clearly not going to get fixed cause of the incompetent staff manning email support.....

Today I signup for a new apn service on another MTN contract. What happens the exact same thing. In LTE coverage area's I can't access the internet with afrihost's apn......

So now I'm VERY :mad::mad: and reply to the email again...... The response I get I'm actually shocked....

"Hope you are doing well:)

Thank you for your email and my apology for the inconvenience caused.
Could please advise if your area network coverage supports LTE and you Device"

Jesus Christ I sent the screenshots CLEARLY showing that LTE is like not allowed a permission like block on the afrihost apn and NOT coverage related....

OMG now they want to report to the MTN coverage team a faulty tower..... LTE works 100% when I use mymtn and internet as my apn but when I chage it to afrihost I get a error saying cellular data not active...

Ok so lets start the list Afrihost. Please report that EVERY SIGNLE LTE site on MTN is faulty... :erm:

I tried asking for my money back..... No reply.

I pm's Afriguy maybe like 4 or 5 times begging and begging him to help me and nothing happens? :erm:

What can I do? Must I phone the bank and reverse the charges on my cc? Must I complain to ASA for false advertising?

AfriGuy is back on the forum today. Drop him a PM and he should sort it for you.

I did he is not replying...... He i hower replying on the forums but not via pm.

Today's pm was like the 4th or 5th pm begging for help but no one does.

The problem is so obvious. Its like MTN has no provisioned or given permission for my sims to access the afrihost apn when connected to the LTE network.

That to me looks to be the problem. Its not coverage. I tried calling MTN directly but I'm not sure which department deals with provisioning of apns

You signed up for "a new apn service on another MTN contract" ? As in, MTN? not Afrihost? That won't work with an afrihost APN?

From what I gather from your other thread, your afrihost sim might be one of the earlier ones which isn't LTE provisioned, so until that's done it won't work.

I assume everyone's on holiday and since they're not that large an outfit, you'll probably only get this sorted on Monday the 6th when most of the crew should be back.

Alternatively, I would call afrihost support and say "my sim hasn't been LTE provisioned, please help". If you're lucky they might have someone manning the phone with a list FAQ's and how to resolve them.

He's quite busy. He will be going through his inbox soon enough. I'm also waiting for a PM reply. Have you tried live chat support btw? I personally don't use the e-mail support because it takes a day or two to get a reply.

Phoned MTN Business Data support on 083 123 6020 and they confirmed after I explained the situation that there is something they need to investigate but the fault log needs to come from afrihost and not from me.

I hope they will fix it now. That said however I think that its not a isolated problem. I think its a problem with ALL apn only packages from afrihost. The sims afrihost supply works but apn only seems to be a problem.

Anyways for the guys not sure what is happening. When I change the apn to mymtn or internet then data works. When I change it to afrihost I get the following error while in LTE coverage.

OMG email support wants me to fill in a coverage problem form...... Sigh

How to answer a quastion like this.... Would you mind MTN to install a antenna at your property?

What does that have to do with the problem..... *cries

Please PM me your number so I can verify provisioning

Generic form?

Yes but all the questions are related to poor coverage. None of the quastions asks what apn I use or what error I get.

Its a form that says what house, do you use bluetooth, can you make calls with the current signal, do you get dropped calls.

All that is very unrelated to my quary and they don't want to log a fault with mtn without that form. To me it looks like they want to log a network coverage fault which is not what I am having now....

Kill all the fields, state that the coverage is 100%... while you are not on LTE. Also state that you have tried all 9287 towers in your area that have LTE and that x y z happens when you enter such an area. Just to be safe state that your device is LTE capable and works 100% when not on the afrihost APN. They cannot have a form for every eventuality.

For LTE, just live chat the mobile department and they'll move you to an LTE service :)

Hi cavedog

Really sorry we've let you down here :(
The Afri team has been on a few days leave, but I'm slowly but surely catching up with my inbox today/ tomorrow. If you haven't already, please include a ticket reference number that I can follow up on and have this sorted out for you.

Finally started working today..... Yay my 1 and half month battle is over... :)

Maybe wanna change your post heading?

much anger. so sorted.

After posting this I got action in less that a week. Posting my normal thread no connection on LTE and emailing their support left me in the dark for more than a month. So yes a lot of anger but it worked....

Thanks to da_iP_Guy that managed to do what he can from MTN side and got a call from MTN in less than 5min after he pm'd me asking if he could help...

Thanks to afriguy that helped.

No thanks to email support... You guys just delayed it for no reason whatsoever.
