Hi

Your "support" is ignoring me for a few days now, and now I've got two undelivered messages. Heres's the second one

====================================
The message identifier is: 1l7P9g-0000LV-ME
The subject of the message is: Re: How (and can I) submit a layout to keyboard-design
The date of the message is: Wed, 03 Feb 2021 22:53:40 +0200

The address to which the message has not yet been delivered is:

[redacted]@outlook.com
host outlook-com.olc.protection.outlook.com [104.47.125.33]
Delay reason: SMTP error from remote mail server after pipelined end of data:
451 4.7.650 The mail server [169.1.1.77] has been temporarily rate limited due to IP reputation. For e-mail delivery information, see https://postmaster.live.com (S775) [SG2APC01FT029.eop-APC01.prod.protection.outlook.com]

===============================

169.1.1.77 is of course smtp.afrihost.com and I assume your Unsolicited Bulk Commercial Email operations (aka spam) are producing the expected responses at destinations. ISPs should not be in the spam business. Some manager at Afrihost told me I was naive to think that. I'd rather be naive than stupid.

If I'm wrong, please advise. And what am I supposed to do to send emails? Other clients had to whitelist my address to stop it getting marked as spam.

When will you be ceasing your spam business?

Thanks. Ian

Had this same issue for months when I still hosted clients with AH.
After being given the run-around, ignored and asked irrelevant questions, it became clear they only worry about clients paying invoices, so I moved all my clients to domains.co.za

Not surprisingly I have not had a single email rejection/problem in the last 2 years.

Vote with your wallet and move to a proper ISP.

Hi Ian,

We do not run a SMTP server on smtp.afrihost.com we do however run a smtp server on smtp.afrihost.co.za and this relay is available to ALL Afrihost clients whether they use email or not.

Our hosting have separate smtp servers for everyone on different servers.

I'm going to ask our Noc team to assist with a ticket to deist the relay server as this is the only way Microsoft delists IP addresses that has been flagged.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with us in the past.

I don't think it's true to suggest that only we suffer from IPs being listed. Shared hosting is exactly that. Share hosting if someone spams intentionally or unintentionally the IP gets listed and it would be the same issue with all the hosting providers.

The likelihood of listing are reduced the fewer clients you have per IP.

lol Afrifail at it again, please close down already.

I never stated or insinuated that only AH suffers from IP's being blacklisted - the very nature of shared hosting services will inevitably cause a blacklist to happen at some point.

My issue was the total and complete lack of support and interest to resolve the issues over several months when they happened which is why I ended up moving my clients away.

Clearly domains.co.za is doing something right/better/different as none of my shared hosting clients have been blacklisted in the last 2 years where as when still on AH it was an ongoing issue that was still unresolved when I moved my clients away.

I'm sorry you feel this way.

We do make mistakes we are not perfect but we do try our best to get it right.

We have 10s of thousands of clients that are enjoying the services we provide and we try be #1 in SA.

Then they turn around and say but our gmail account got it, well **** my client had it happen today alone two emails that were sent one from a afrihost mail client to my hosted mail client. Nope didnt come in

@AfriNatic - Not hosting related, but I've been getting some of these lately..different recipients. Assuming it's a problem on the receiving side, but just want to check.

The address to which the message has not yet been delivered is:

[email protected]
host spl-co-za.mail.protection.outlook.com [104.47.10.36]
Delay reason: SMTP error from remote mail server after pipelined sending data block:
451 4.7.500 Server busy. Please try again later from [169.1.1.75]. (S77714) [DB5EUR03FT039.eop-EUR03.prod.protection.outlook.com]

Hi,

We have a problem with smtp.afrihost.co.za for the last few days. A client with malware has been sending bulk phishing and spam mails. Server admin has been working on getting it unlisted everywhere and fix the sending issues.

I will follow up with server admin on the status of this smtp server.

Hi

Don't you have tools in place to detect such malware activity? If not, why not?....

Your default delay for advising of problems (24 hours) is way too long ... it should be 4 hours. Had an issue this week because my accountant didn't get my urgent emails ...

I had to send via a different system.

I'm sure your 10s of thousands clients are enjoying not being able to send mail for days.

Serious question - are you going to refund them for the inability to render service or compensate them for the inconvenience or just bill them as normal?

I have tested smtp.afrihost.co.za and mail.afrihost.co.za on both ssl and non ssl and all mail gets delivered to @outlook and @gmail and various other mail accounts.

Have you tested again? Are you still experiencing issues?
Using smtp.afrihost.com should work while .co.za is unavailable
