Can't help but wonder if the fact that all the US TV shows have started up again over the last couple of weeks has something to do with the surge in demand.

Maybe, linked to IOS and school holidays.

Edit: Schools started this morning and my driving experience was severely shaped. In stead of arriving at work at 7:50, I was late at 8:20. Shaping applied: 37.5%

Now to get the municipality to get more capacity in Kloof... That will not happen.

It's true that when we upgraded our network, we were able to run most of our local networks unshaped for very long periods of time. It was always a possibility that shaping would gradually be more prevalent as we started to make full use of our capacity.

At present we are just as stumped as everyone. The network was running perfectly, iOS 7 dropped, and somehow we're still not seeing usage go back to what it was. We've been analysing traffic and trying to pin down the source of the increased demand, but we don't see any trend that explains why we suddenly jumped to peak usage. We're looking at all our available options now to solve the problem, but it definitely does not seem consistent with new signups or data usage trends, which we closely monitor to make sure we have sufficient capacity for best service, while ensuring that we don't carry high overheads that will affect our pricing.

If there is an issue on the network why doesn't your network status page reflect this?

Had a glimmer of hope this morning... was running on 75/75 for a good long while; not great that it started before 8am even, but it was holding steady. Then dropped to 50/50 'round 10'ish, I think, before stumbling to 50/25... which is still acceptable during daytime as far as I'm concerned. Alas, I see I'm back where I belong now... 18.8/6.25. That'll teach me. :(

AFriman... any idea why I am being shaped like this being a new client? come on... :(

They keep on telling everyone. Your useage doesn't matter, if you are a home uncapped user and the demand is too high then you gonna get klapped. Maybe should have waited a bit for this to pass. This is gonna leave a very bad taste in your mouth.. And probably a lot of new people. AfriHost might cough up a lot of "Double your Money Back's"

The man don't care whether you're new or not. In Afri-stan everyone's treated equally. :D

LOOOOL!!!!

Fair enough but look at the shaping and the data used... NOT COOL

Can't download a floppy drive worth of data on my 10mbps line with that shaping...

I have been trying to download the below for hours now... Absolutely pathetic!!

Speeds seem to be improving, was hitting 400kB/s now on the new ATI drivers up from 30kB/s earlier.
