Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Jip, yesterday was terrible according to my wife. Normal browsing was bad. Youtube did not stream properly. So realtime services were affected.
Last night I rebooted my router as my e-mails were hanging. This helped a bit. It's sad to say that with MWeb I did not have to reboot my router for months on end. It just worked, until they sent the abuse letter.

Please don't blame my line, as using my capped backup account works perfectly.
 
I have a quick question. This morning my router was on with absolutely nothing connecting to it. I noticed that the internet light on the router flashes every now and then. What could be causing this? Noise on the line, faulty line?? I am not too sure.. This might be causing my erratic ping on my line?

Can you post your router stats?
I know the Netgear router shows a light if the internet works.
My Dlink flashes faster/slower depending on the speed that I download at. I don't know if you're referring to this perhaps?

Well, my internet light on the router goes solid once it's connected to the net. Then if there is traffic the internet light will start flashing. So could this erratic flashing cause some issues. Absolutely nothing was connected to the router. It isn't flashing constantly, just a flash or 2 every now and then. Which stats do you need?

Oh, no, that doesn't mean anything.
You're welcome to post your stats anyways, but it might not make a difference to any issues you might have.
Attenuation/SNR/max rate/etc.

Cool thanks, I was just worried that this might cause some latency issues. If there was something wrong with the line..

Okay. Yeah routers generally send a keepalive back every now and then, that might be what you're seeing.

Yup, yesterday my Netflix kept buffering every 30 seconds. Also, only got 0.48mbps on my speed tests last night.

This morning everything was fine again.

This better get sorted or I'm going to look for someone else.
 
Shaping is gone from my 1mb uncapped account from last night... finally.

edit: speedtest runs at 6.95mb/s

edit 2: youtube streaming. it starts briefly at 4mb and then drops quickly to a sustained 1mb with small fluctuations. not able to watch without buffering

Can you guys please keep me updated here on how the shaping is going on the Home uncapped accounts? I moved to the 2mb business account until this shaping crap is over. But would love to save my R100 again.

Sure. 2Mbps Uncapped. 25% / 6.25%

It seems better; a few days ago 7:30 was 18.8/6.25 time here, whilst it's still holding on to 50/50 at present. But I'll tell you what does worry me: Cellular might not draw from the same pool as home uncapped, but I'm pretty sure business would. With ever more people hopping across to business, taking their network-destroying download habits with them, will it get progressively worse for those not doing so?
